@Prof.NightJack
It didn’t help that DKVINE, and such spread that rumor like crazy. The truth was Miyamoto liked DKC, and even uncreditedly helped give advice on making the game. Like making DK’s sidekick a new character (Rare was going to use DK Jr. originally) was Miyamoto’s idea.
In fact, having their Texas developer Retro Studios revive the DKC series was also
Miyamoto’s idea.
@Jarkes
Yeah, I think Larry Bundy’s “Times Miyamoto was a dick” video was highly inaccurate (and biased) as Miyamoto & Nintendo actually had a good relationship with Argnaut & Rare. Considering he still used outdated rumors like the “Miyamoto hates DKC” one, and such which were already debunked years ago, I question where he gets his information.
Not to mention his remark that
“If you’re a British developer, never work with Nintendo” is very ironic, considering Rareware was much better off with Nintendo then they were with Microsoft. (Whom practically let Rare go out of business.)
There were also rumors that Nintendo/Miyamoto “forced” Rare to remake the N64 game “Dinosaur Planet” into “Star Fox Adventures,” (I remember a crazy Krystal-fangirl on DA always going off about that) but according to it’s developers, when they had to remake the game for GameCube, Miyamoto generously offered to let them use the Star Fox brand for it. The developers gladly acceptted as they loved the Star Fox games, and thought they could do more with the game by using Star Fox stuff.
