Sonata Dusk: The comic relief of the group became a little tiresome over the course of the movie, but not enough so that I actually dislike her. I think that perhaps the fandom hypes her up a bit much, but I don’t mind her terribly.
Aria Blaze: Moody and sorta emo looking, all she seems to do is be the brooding one of the bunch. Sure.
Adagio Dazzle: Obviously she’s cast as so incredibly evil, she even overrules her sisters without taking their ideas into consideration. I think that’s tired, but again, I don’t mind terribly.

Plot holes notwithstanding, I don’t mind the Dazzlings that much, I just also don’t have a special liking for them outside of Rainbow Rocks. It’s not like I want them to make any sort of return, I think they’ve done their job and fulfilled their role just fine.

Apple Bloom: Honestly, she’s somewhat boring. She’s adorable, sure, but her episodes revolved for a long time around the same thing, and that’s not even considering the CMC group episodes. Her solo episodes basically followed more of the same shit, and if not, it was more of the Applejack problem of all her stuff is about family if it’s not about cutie marks.
Sweetie Belle: Her little voice squeak is frustrating to listen to. She’s relegated to a minor role along with the rest of the CMC and that’s perfectly fine for me, as she doesn’t seem to have a lot to offer in my opinion. Her solo episodes usually revolve around her sister, but unlike “The Applejack problem”, because most of her time isn’t spent talking about how important family is, it stands out more, so that’s good.
Scootaloo: Yes, I play favorites. But she’s been slow to develop at all and her character hasn’t really changed much over the many years of the show. She’s just not expanded as much as a character, and that’s one of the reasons I think that the focus of the show needs to be off the Mane 6 more often.

Discord: I dislike how he’s been leashed and relegated to random comedy and such. I enjoyed when immediately after his reform he still was messing about in Pandemonium and having fun just causing minor mayhem. His episodes are usually enjoyable. I actually think some of his character development and learning to deal with friendship issues has been done surprisingly well. Basically I don’t have a lot of criticism for him.

Chrysalis: One of my favorite villains. I don’t have a lot to criticize about her. The biggest thing I have is that I do not want to see her be reformed. I honestly have more of an issue with how the changelings changed and immediately turned around on her when Thorax, literally just some changeling drone, transformed into… y’know, that, and they all were like “Fuck the leader we’ve loyally followed for who the hell knows how long, let’s abandon ship in the blink of an eye!”

Applejack: I hate the way Applejack is handled in early episodes. I can’t say about later episodes as a lot of the newer seasons I just don’t remember at this point, but dear lord the “Background Pony Applejack” jokes started with the poor handling of her as a character in her character specific episodes. Her entire focus was exclusively about anything to do with family, and she even got involved when other characters were dealing with family issues of their own (See “Sisterhooves Social”) and it seemed like that’s the majority of what she was good for. Fine, she values family and apples. Okay. What else? Honest, hard work? Alright, can we get something that isn’t a stereotype?
(Basically everything past season 5 I don’t even remember anymore)
Trixie: I preferred her the way she was. Arrogant, cocky, sporadic. Having her constantly involved in the show as another mainstay side character feels like… Well, like she’s lost the entire point of her being a wandering act. Sure, she works well with Starlight, but gods do I wish that they’d just leave Ponyville and travel Equestria. I’d even be okay with them dragging the camera along, and each new episode featured them doing something crazy in a new place in Equestria, with a new lesson learned and old friends showing up. But now. She was basically locked down by the new Twilight Sparkle.
Starlight Glimmer: Speaking of, Starlight had a huge amount of focus shoved onto her character development. Some of those episodes were good. Some were iffy. But focusing intensely on a single character’s progression when an audience has only just met that character is basically the strategy of whoever the fuck thought Roman Reigns should be the one to retire The Undertaker.

Pinkie Pie: Welp, she can be annoying. Sure, but I’m not really gonna criticize that. However, she’s often been filling basically the same trope forever as the silly, random character. Sure, that’s fun, but it gets tiring over the course of many years. I like seeing her personality flex back and forth and fluctuate, and Party of One is my favorite episode in Season 1 and a contender for my favorite episode of all time. All of her episodes feel like either they uncover something big about her private life or she’s just going around being silly and all that. I prefer the former, but the latter is probably a lot more common.

Rainbow Dash: Weirdly, some of Rainbow’s boring or not interesting parts of the Wonderbolts episodes don’t come from her, but from Spitfire. I won’t talk about those though. Having Rainbow Dash as the prodigy flyer makes a lot of things dumb as time goes on. Her age isn’t explicitly said in the show (though I don’t know if the candles on the birthday were supposed to be her age or if that was ever actually explained by writers or anyone) and she seems like she’s underestimated by the majority of ponies, or that her status as one of the greatest fliers in Equestria hasn’t really effected her outside of when the episode is explicitly about that exact thing. I also feel like it took far too long for her to get into the Wonderbolts when her talents were so openly shown and stated to be literally jaw dropping as early as Season 1, episode 16.

I’d consider them more CMC episodes. Luna plays a supporting role in them and she’s lovely. Those episodes provide context as to her role in Equestria in general, and show exact what she means by “watching over dreams”.

Twilight Sparkle: Hoo boy… She’s been through a lot of episodes I hated her in. I dislike the sort of “chosen one” feeling I get from her, despite her not being overpowered per se, but in the end, it does all come down to her with the exception of a scarce few times. Also, after becoming princess, I’m glad to see less of her, as it gives the spotlight to others who can develop beyond the limited roles they’ve had before. Replacing her focus with a heavy focus on Starlight was… Well, I’ll get to that later.
Rarity: Gods, I hate some of her episodes. At the same time, she has some of my favorite episodes of all time, but my issues with her is that for someone proclaiming to be Generosity, she spends an awful lot of time in the first few seasons doing things for herself and nobody else. My biggest issues show in the Sweet and Elite episode, where she dicks around for a week instead of doing that one thing for her friend that was the entire point of her trip to Canterlot, and instead decides to live it up and make herself a popular pony in the city (Literally the entire song is about that.)
Fluttershy: I’ll preface this by saying Fluttershy is one of my favorite ponies. That said, I’m tired of her personality in all honesty. I like it being mixed up, hence why I enjoy so many of the episodes that focus on her not being shy and meek, like the first Iron Will episode, or the Flutterbat episode. Her personality has been so generic for such a long time that I’ve grown tired of her.

Things I don’t like about certain characters: (And some of these characters I fucking love)

Luna: Fan favorite, but perhaps too much so. Her character “development” seems limited and rushed on screen, most of it happened off screen, which is fine, but it was never hinted at. The Tantibus episode was good, however. I don’t think Luna deserves quite as much hype as she has.
Celestia: A seemingly inconsistent ruler. Her personality seems flat sometimes, though there’s been moments where she shows that she quite enjoys messing with others and that somewhat hints that she’d be fine mildly abusing her powers and status for tricks and laughs. Nothing too awful, but I’m pretty lukewarm with her, ironically.

I love Luna, but I feel like there’s a bunch of weird things about her. She’s a fan favorite (and my own), but I think that her episodes weren’t as good as I wish they were, outside of the Tantibus episode - which was fantuckingfastic.

Yeah, but sometimes my bait happens to also be my real opinion. Like Thorax is garbage after the whole transformation. New changeling look like vomit and could’ve been designed better and with something less… DeviantArt-y. Y’know? Something that didn’t look like baby’s first OC (I say, as someone whose literal first OC was a shitty alicorn knockoff crossed between Twilight and Fluttershy.)

Flashlight is a terribly forced ship, more so than Cheerimac, and that was the crux of an entire episode, which is why I’m glad that the writers basically dropped Flash, but I think that they just replaced him with another forced ship.
