It was suggested I was on the spectrum in grade school, but I did not get a formal diagnosis until high school. It’s a pain in the ass having to hide it, as I do consider it an integral part of who I am. I am not and never will be ashamed of it, but I learned the hard way about being too open about it to the wrong people.
