For the record, it’s nothing to do with whether it’s more or less work. It was significant more work to keep the previous ordering than to change it, even now, because we have tools that make changing tags very easy. We were attempting to establish some sort of consistency in our spoiler tagging policies. We’ve simply adjusted how we approach that policy, after internal discussion.

Yakkity Sax is episode 18 according to basically everyone. And refusing to accept that A Matter of Principals is episode 14 is screwing up the numbering of five other episodes, exposing users to unwanted spoilers, and hiding actual wanted content from still other users. But clearly, letting this just fester until months after the season ends when they delete the spoiler tags anyway is the way to go because it’s less work. Of course, the longer it’s left to fester the more work it becomes to fix, until it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.

Literally every other site, including Discovery Family, labels A Matter of Principals as S8E14 and Yakity-Sax as S8E18. Tags should reflect that.

The users, and a handful of their own moderators. To have done this to start with was understandable, considering old site policy, to have kept the erroneous episode order after the facts were laid out and everyone here has said there peace comes across as just being stubborn.

Guess mods washed their hands off this issue, who cares about what users think I guess.

As of this moment we are at the point where Discovery Family considers Yakity-Sax episode 18 and Matter of Principals episode 14 (see e-mail linked earlier in thread) and the fandom consensus seems to follow this. If it was any normal “out of order schedule” I would agree that Yakity-Sax was episode 14 but we haven’t had this kind of situation involving a Discover Family preview airing before.

Check on Equestria Daily first, they’re going by the proper DiscoFam airing order and have all of the episodes numbered accordingly.

Welp, now Episodes 14 and 15 are being mistagged as 15/16. So, we’re going to keep things out of order until we hit 19 in a month or so?

Looking through the filters in use by people in this thread, only ONE of you actually filters or watches these spoiler tags  
Am I really the only one in here who has Episode 18 (complex) spoilered but not spoiler:s08e14 or yakity-sax? I have spoiler:s08 complex-filtered with all the aired episodes added as exceptions.
 
If people want a way to search by production order, that’s something that can be created  
What would that look like? I’d suggest spoiler:episode187 or spoiler:ep187 for Yakity Sax, that would allow for every episode to be tagged according to both airdate and production order; someone would need to go through the wiki and check all of the alt text on the episode numbers where those don’t match to get a pure Production Order List, but it should be fairly simple for y’all to add the tags and implications all at once.
 
I mean, the s00e00 tags here and the ep000 listings on the wiki would still be incorrect because DiscoFam previewed YS out order, but it would let people who care about the correct airing order– sans special events and sneak previews, etc.– have a way to spoiler episodes based on it while still maintaining the Derpi Standard.
