I’m keeping list of the stuff that my dumper has processed here in case it can help you and/or the others. Since tumblr is being weird, I’m going through the list in random order which, surprisingly enough, still produces results.

Glancing at Order-Zerum that I ripped recently shows me that they have actually gone about EDITING the images with… golden apples. Now the ones I grabbed all the way back in August don’t seem to have such ‘apples’. Anyone else noticed stuff like that?

Is there a way to check or archive these blogs en mass?

So, several things…
 
You can sift through NSFW flagged blogs if you go to /blogs/blog-name  
If you find a flagged photo, you can inspect element to get its ID  
With that, you can get to the photo display page.  
Example:

The actual image that Tumblr doesn’t want you to see

I was mostly on Ponyarchive’s discord this week, so I’m a bit out of the loop. Is there any attempt to organize claiming of all 17k tumblrs in twkr’s “alive” list? Because spreadsheet in the first post isn’t.

Look into the WaybackMachine and see if the blog is archived there. If not, and it’s still available on Tumblr, archive all the pages on it. That will make it possible to determine the chronological order later.
 

 
 
TumblrThree still works for blogs that now show a “This Tumblr may contain sensitive media” message. I am downloading cloppermania.tumblr.com with it right now and it works without any problems.

I do remember reading somewhere that Tumblr would remove the avatars/themes/banners/something related to blogs that are marked as NSFW. Not sure if that’s what those are, but, it’s not impossible.

I just grabbed a TumblThree backup myself.

The python script pulled 677 images from it. Not sure how ‘complete’ that is.
 
I will be continuing ripping as much stuff as possible. Even if it’s incomplete it’s something more than nothing in the end.

TumbleThree still seems to be able to grab from flagged blogs.

I was close to downloading all pics until October 2017, after that everything got blocked and I logged out as protest.

Most important blogs for me are cauldroneer.tumblr.com (complete), xrandomxnessx.tumblr.com (90% complete), mylittleanthros.tumblr.com (100% complete) and vimhomeless.tumblr.com (30%).
 
VimHomeLess isn’t that important, but it has good art. My main concern is xrandomxnessx.tumblr.com

TumblThree didn’t give me any errors when I reran it myself, but the tumblr seems browser-inaccessible.

It shouldn’t fail.  
But if it is… Well, we will have to look in backups. Most dump apps saves inline pics and if blog was archived, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Is there any plan in case for whatever reason the description image fails?

@staff in last post said that they won’t remove content and just hide it. Then images should be reachable by direct url.

Guys, what will we do about images hosted on Tumblr that are hotlinked in image descriptions? There must be thousands and thousands of “Ask” uploads and others that have the question embedded as an image in the description, and most of the time they’re just direct hotlinks, not reuploads to Imgur or similar. Many of these images will almost certainly stop working after today.
 
I was browsing around and encountered this >>1236928 and suddenly realized the image in the description will most likely go 404 today. But that’s just one example.

API requests seem to still be able to read “sensitive” blogs, so apps that use the API to access tumblr (like tumblr-utils) seem like they may still work to some extent.
 
I wouldn’t rely on that access lasting forever, though, but it may give a bit more time.

TumblThree names files in chronological order: postIds for posts and image names for images. Images, through, may be quite unsorted because of inline prefix and in case of reuploading by link.
