Yeah it’s a really good season. Honest Apple is really the only episode I find myself actually disliking, and even then it’s better than some of other seasons worsts. Heck I when people ask me what are the worst episodes of S7 I can’t even think of a 3rd one, instead I find myself saying
“1. Honest Apple
2. Hard to say anything
3. Daring Done’s dumb climax

I still can’t believe that this is the first season where there isn’t a single episode that I find bad. That’s impressive.
I’ve heard mixed things on Shadow Play, but if there are people out there that thinks it’s good I’m bound to at least like it.

I didn’t care for the new episode much. I don’t feel like it showed anything other than how much starlight liked board games with it ending as a giant one.

I’ve been looking forward to this and the finale for a while now, and partly because I’m sick and tired of dodging spoilers.
No argument here. I’ve been fighting really hard to avoid season finale spoilers, and it has not been an easy task with everyone and their brother posting them (in eye catching animated form no less).
In any case, for the penultimate episode, I’m super glad I waited instead of watching the leaked version. I really liked just about everything about it. Seriously, they did a fantastic job with the character building here. More development for Starlight, more development for Sunburst, more for Trixie and Maud… we even learned something new about Twilight, a pony we’ve watched for years. And I agree with you about this for sure.

Out of all the new character traits they could introduce in one episode, Twilight and Starburst being obsessed with antiques makes a scary amount of sense.
I know there were a lot of fluctuating opinions going in to season seven, but I’ve really liked how this one has gone and it’s going to be a long wait for eight if the finale is as good as I expect it to be.

I might not go as far as to call it universally liked, but at least from what I’ve seen there definitely seem to be more people who liked it than disliked it.

I’ve really liked how the only universally disliked episodes this season have been “Honest Apple” and “Not Asking for Trouble”, and there hasn’t been a single universally liked episode. It feels like it’s the payoff of being a little more interesting and daring with the writing this season.

It took me seeing this picture here and then going over the scene again (it’s when Starburst is talking with Maud in the second half about having trouble connecting with Starlight), but did anybody else catch this?
