Because the wealthiest will get hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars more back, while the low earners, who we’ve been repeatedly told this bill is for, will see amounts in the
tens more (maybe). Because the tax break for the wealthy and corporations is a permanent one, the ones for the lowest expires in a few years. Because when it expires for the lowest earners, their taxes will jump higher than they are currently, while the rich, will continue making money at the expense of those who suddenly have to pay more in. Because the deep tax cuts add trillions to the deficit that will come down hardest on the children of the lower wage earners. Because the huge deficit will mean cutting government programs primarily used by, you guessed it, the poor. because the entire plan is based around trickle down economics (that have been demonstrably shown time and again not to work), continued levels of economic growth (that a number of experts believe is entirely unsustainable), and the belief that tax cuts create jobs and encourage hiring (which, shockingly, they don’t). Because it’s so obviously a gift to the wealthy that Sarah Huckabee Sanders is not even denying it will greatly benefit Trump anymore.
@AaronMk
Given the entire House of Representatives though is up for re-election the best chance for some shocking redistribution of power in the legislature will likely end up there.
Maybe. Honestly I think the odds of the Democrats taking either the house or the senate are a bit bleak. But, stranger things have happened.
