Unfortunately, with a combo of the 5+ ballistics and the 3+ save of marines, shooting is practically useless unless I use heavy tank killing weaponry against them, which is extremely ineffective against infantry. Also, grots are the only models that shoot decently but they don’t benefit from my selected army trait. The only thing I can think of is meganobz, and hitting first and hitting fast, maybe with bikes.

Can Orks shoot well? If so, you might want to rely on ranged attacks and avoid melee if possible. It may not be the way you want to play Orks, but if they outperform you in melee, you have to adapt.
 
Trust me, I feel your pain as the Tyranid meta goes against their fluff and playstyle.

I hear Space Marines are not fun to fight against, and Space Wolves sound like a strong chapter.

Yes, 9th edition. I don’t honestly know how to fight an elite army, because none of the objectives are really good or give me enough points to counter space marines.

I don’t know much about Space Wolves or Orks, but I’ll know you’ll want a psyker (or wierdboy in your case) to counter that librarian. I personally would build a list to take on all threats and use a lot of cheap units with ObSec for primaries assuming that Orks are still a horde army. This is assuming you’re playing a 9th edition game.

Uhhhhh. Hope that their rolls causes them to miss? Sorry, I’ve never played table top before.

OK, So I’m fighting a list of Ragnar, a librarian with special upgrades, an infiltrator unit of 6, two units of 6 assault intercessors, 3 eradicators, a battle leader, and a pack of fenrisian wolves. Any suggestions?

Yeah, and they’re damn good melee units. It’s just that 9th edition is more about objectives than murdering your opponent, so genestealers I feel have more limited utility now. It sucks because I have a ton of genestealers.

Oh, hah, I keep forgetting genestealers are tyranid aligned. They were my first experience in 40k, with the Tooth and Claw battlepack.

I tend to run varied lists at 500 pts because my roommate and I are still experimenting in the game. We want to run 1000 pt lists, though. A lot of my early lists had broodlords and genestealers, but I want to switch to termagant lists for point-sitting and use a lictor for secondaries and deep-striking.

What list do you normally run?

Hive guard are a bit of a pain to put together. Those impaler cannons are especially annoying to assemble. However, these guys can shoot around corners at strength 8.

I’ve never played against Orks. We’ve both got the same chance of winning I feel. Still, Tyranids vs. Orks sounds fun. Maybe we could run a game on TTS.

You would if the ’nids were gaunts who lost connection to the hive mind. Otherwise, they might have a fancy dinner and share.

It’s like you get a lone Ork stuck between to starving Tyranids and they both immediately start fighting over the Ork like two hobos fighting over a Spam and and bologna sandwich.

Thats cool. I’m planning on getting myself a 3-D printer (FDM not resin, only because it’s expensive and messy) so I can make my own custom figures and paint them.

Eventually. I’ve been slow painting my minis, but I have 12 termagants and 12 hormagaunts painted. Most of my minis are primed, though.
