I think they were trying to go with a style that was reminiscent of the traditional paladins of old when Games Workshop first introduced them.
Speaking of factions though, is it me or do the Dark Eldar (or Drukahri) look like something from the Hellraiser serires, y'know the Cennobites?

One of the biggest ironies in 40k, if not the biggest, is how the Dark Eldar have to act like hardcore Slaaneshi worshipers to avoid having their souls drank by Slaanesh himself. Of course, their entire species murder-fucking itself owing to boredom created Slaanesh.

I think the orks are going to end up fighting the tyranids in the end, an unstoppable force met by an unmoving green tide.
The tua will be bogged down by the necrons, leaving the imperium and the Eldar to fight chaos, because the Drukhari will kill themselves in the long run.

I'm not bashing the design of the Dark Eldar either. I'm just pointing out the irony of their existence.

@chaotic-7
Surprised you haven't heard of The Octarian War. It was one of Kryptman's "brilliant" ideas. He had a live Genestealer from Hive Fleet Leviathan captured and planted on the Ork world of Octarius, drawing a splinter of that hive fleet into Ork territory where both parties can have lots of fun killing one another. I haven't heard of anything coming from it except maybe a new strain of Tyranids.

@Communist Starlight
Heck if I know who's going to win in the end. I'd put my money on the Tyranids or Orks and maybe the Tau if we ignore plot armor.

I just got into the lore earlier this year. So I only know probably only the basics (if that). Seeing as the 40k universe has had almost 20 years to expand with new Space Marine chapters, regiments and lore. I'm not complaining, I just wish I had gotten into Warhammer sooner. I like the Age of Sigmar stuff too though.

Also Spike makes the best Sly Marbo in my opinion. If I had a 3D printer I'd make a figurine in that likeness. But that's me, (crossover/parodies are kinda my thing.)

I've been around for a while (late 4th), and don't worry, there's plenty of time to catch up on things still. Just don't try to take it all in at once.

I can see a Spike Marbo, but I think Ollanius Pius would suit him even better.

@ArgentBanner
Seconded, who's that?
And lol, people keep saying things like young people don't get int warhammer or whatever but I got into it when I was 15, at the start of 8th. Primaris marines were my first experience.

"Grunt Ehhh, back in my day… we didn't have some…fancy plastic minitures. No sir! Back then all you needed…was a rulebook, a bestiary, and 5 character sheets that took a weeks time to fill out, and some good ol' imagination. That was some good fun right there Billy."

@Communist Starlight
Oh, Ollanius Pius? You know the story about the final battle between Emps and Horus, how a random guardsman got mixed up in it somehow, stood up to Big Bad Eviler Guy and got smoked for his troubles? That was Ollanius Pius. Now, there's been a LOT of canon drift, headcanon shananigans, and 21st century's answer to the telephone game going on, but if you meet a IG player or lore-master worth his salt, you need to know him. He's literally a patron saint of Guardsman. There's a lot more to it, but that's the essentials.

@Communist Starlight
I've played DnD in the past too, I was mostly poking fun at myself (because I'm getting long in the tooth lol) and trying to parody the fact that DnD came out like 10 years before 40k so…yeah.

@ArgentBanner
Yeah, I know who your talking about now, he was mentioned in 40k TTSD. Though I still like the idea of Spike being this "Hero of Legends" kinda like how the Crystal Empire sees him as this legendary hero.

So it's like if you had a "ponified" version of 40k, there's these tall tales of a single drake guardsman undertaking these seemingly impossible tasks and suceeding.

Spike Drago. (drey-go)
ArgentBanner

@chaotic-7
Hmm. Your argument has merit, but the Drago bit needs work (little too close to a certain Draigo); maybe Flambo or something, I dunno.

@Communist Starlight
It's a lot deeper than that (but thanks to rewrites a lot derpier now too). He's held as a hero because he did exactly what a Guardsman is supposed to do, stand and die holding the line. If you want somebody that stumbles into bad stuff and comes out on top, look up Commissar Cain.

@ArgentBanner
Oh yeah, I know of commissar cain, "hero of the Imperium!".

40k is great, my dad just bought my 4 year old sister some Adepta Sororitas just so she could play with us, it's heartwarming. (But I'm not gonna lie I'm kinda tired of losing to people in power armor :/ )
chaotic-7

@Communist Starlight
Yeah but those are just types of species of dragons, I'm thinking of along the lines of dragon terminology, like the term drake or something.

What about Spargo? Kinda like how Marbo is a parody Rambo it parodies Spyro a little bit.

I definitely want to listen to some more Caiphus Cain audiobooks. He seems like a fun character. I listened to one where he first met the Necrons and heard part of another one on someone else's stream.

@Communist Starlight
Your four-year-old sister knows how to play 40k?

My roommate has Sisters of Battle, and I wouldn't mind giving them a go myself just for their prayer dice mechanic.
