With virtually most of the Elder Scrolls old guard gone(Ted Peterson, Kirkbride, Kuhlmann), this can only mean one thing for TES 6 Hammerfell

I will say it’s not all doom and gloom, Skyrim wasn’t as destructive to the province’s lore and setting as Oblivion was to Cyrodil, so there’s a chance Bethesda inches closer towards Morrowind and Daggerfall type lore in their stories and settings once again(yes I know about Mankar’s commentaries, doesn’t change the whole setting being a LOTR rip off)
Although knowing Todd he will just make Hammerfell a Wakanda clone

Im not exactly sure that number is accurate. According to the far more balanced source, Committee to Protect Journalists, the total number of dead journalists and media workers in this conflict is 39, and this includes four Israeli journalists killed by Hamas. I generally don’t trust middleeasteye as a reliable news source
Now it’s still worth noting that 35 dead journalists is still an extreme number, especially when you consider that the Russo-Ukrainian war has 17 journalists dead and that’s counting from 2014 when the annexation of Crimea and the Donbas war started
@Latecomer
Honestly the settlements would be inoffensive if Israeli civilians in the settlements were under the same laws as Area C Palestinians(Area C Palestinians live under Israeli military law while Israeli settlers live under civilian law) and settlers just didn’t love terrorizing Palestinians, bedouins and generally anyone who isn’t them all the time

So in case Israeli settlers aren’t cartoonishly evil enough, a bunch of them recently went to the Armenian quarter of Jerusalem and threatened the local Armenian community with death because of their resistance to a local land deal. Simply following their inner TurkđŸ‡č🇳đŸ‡č🇳đŸ‡č🇳đŸ‡č🇳đŸș
The background to this story is that the Patriarchate of the Armenian church in Jerusalem signed a land deal with some investor to build some hotel in the very small armenian quarter. The local community protested because it both harms the local diversity of the city as well as evicting potentially many residents and maybe even historical buildings(we don’t have access to the inner workings of the deal but at least one guy and his family is affected). The patriarchate recently cancelled the deal, and the investor they sold it said “nope” and decided to start demolishing the area anyways. He then proceeded to haul his ass to the area with a pack of goons behind him and well, you can read the rest in the article.
Now the articles I’ve read on this do seem biased as most of them seem to be Armenian press or Arab press, but generally the details between them seem accurate enough, plus it does like up with reports of increasing violence against Armenians specifically and Christians broadly in the city

So in other news, 3 children and a woman are killed by an Israeli strike in Lebanon. Coincidentally they are related to a journalist who was injuried in the strike. This is not the first time Israel airstriked journalists in Lebanon, a few weeks back they airstriked a Reuters journalists and injuried six as well.
The total amount of journalists killed in the Gaza war far exceeds the amount of journalists killed in Ukraine

The other wasn’t even making a joke on bomber Harris, hell it wasn’t even defending jokes on Bomber Harris, just that there isn’t an comparison to be drawn between making bomber harris jokes and thinking the bombing of Gaza is wrong because bomber harris jokes are made in jest and aren’t like, an actual policy position being taken

Considering their report system is a simple online form, and the general increase in social awareness around harassment issues over the past decade (see #metoo and reporting sexual harassment)
Then the spike should’ve been seen before the attacks and would’ve been far more gradual, unless you’re saying Muslims all collectively decided to put off reporting hate crimes until now
Seriously, read the damn article, it’s a hate incident increase of 182%, anyone with a brain will tell you this isn’t the result of gradual collective consciousness
This logic doesn’t make any sense whatsoever
The ADL also reported a similar increase in anti semitic hate incident reporting as well. Do you also doubt there is a rise in anti semitic hate incidents? Or is this something you only apply to Muslims for some reason? While I have my criticisms of the ADL, I don’t see a reason to doubt their reporting in this instance, just like I don’t have a reason to doubt CAIR’s reporting on hate incidents
It’s generally considered common that the people being insulted or threatened get to decide what it is they find insulting or threatening
I wasn’t aware Jews collectively banded together and decided to consider that phrase hate speech. And if you’re going to bring up the ADL, then it’s worth noting Jewish Currents and The Forward, two Jewish news orgs, published articles stating the nuances of the phrase
Also in general this just isn’t true as a statement. I’m pretty sure most Turks consider calling the Armenian genocide as a genocide is hate speech against Turkey, that doesn’t mean it is

Now I have my criticisms of CAIR, a lot of them, but I don’t see a reason to doubt their reports on this(it’s also worth noting that 774 isn’t all the Islamophobia hate crimes committed, just the one reported to them in specific, so the number of hate crimes and incidents are far higher.

It’s the fact that you singled out Jordan and Egypt in particular in response to posts about anti Muslim sentiment in the west, it’s a clear attempt at deflection on the topic people are talking for whatever reason
Like, first you deny that the child was targeted because he was Muslim, even though the attacker screamed “you Muslims must die” while strangling his mother, and then, claim that the family was targeted solely for their Palestinian identity and then pivot to singling out anti-Palestinian sentiment in Jordan and Egypt and left out Israel, the place where anti-Palestinian sentiment is the highest and where Palestinians are most likely to be affected by
It’s just an insane amount of goalposting shifting, even in this reply I’m responding to, you go off on a tangent about Egypt and Jordan
Like yeah Egypt and Jordan has anti-Palestinian sentiment, why single them out and not Israel or other western countries? Why even bring up Egypt and Jordan in a conversation about increasing anti-Muslim sentiment in the west? The world wonders

@Ereiam
Moderately sure he targeted that family for being Palestinian, not simply muslim. If someone wants to argue that there’s a rise in fear/hatred against Palestinians, sure, I can see that. Especially in Egypt and Jordan.
Going back to this ridiculous comment, to say hatred against Palestinians are rising and to single out Egypt and Jordan of all fucking places is patently absurd and is just an attempt to deflect from anti-Arab and anti-Muslim sentiments in western societies. Ignoring how many Jordanians are descended from Palestinians(the current Queen of Jordan has Palestinian parents), the only place where hatred against Palestinians should be singled out in particular is Israel, because you know, 20% of their population are Arabs who mostly consider themselves to be Palestinians and Area C of the West Bank has Israeli settlements side by side with nomadic bedouins and Palestinian villages
And of course this has already happened, settler violence in the West Bank is at an all time, it was already at an all time high in 2023 before the Hamas attacks, but the Hamas attacks has escalated the situation in the West Bank to horrific proportions
Experienced observers believe the spike in violence is part of a broader campaign to scare Palestinians off their land that has been allowed to accelerate amid Israel’s enraged and wounded mood. Since Oct. 7, settler violence has displaced more than 800 Palestinians, including entire herding communities.
On Oct. 13, Zakariya al-Arda, a Palestinian construction worker living in a small West Bank town called At-Tuwani, was walking up a hill after Friday prayers with about eight friends. A video from that day shows that none of Mr. al-Arda’s group are carrying firearms though one is holding a rock.
A settler from Havat Ma’on, an outpost bordering At-Tuwani that is considered illegal even under Israeli law, comes down the hill brandishing a rifle. He clubs Mr. al-Arda with the butt. When Mr. al-Arda tries to defend himself, the settler shoots him
In the most graphic scene, soldiers stand around a group of blindfolded Palestinian men whose hands are tied behind their backs. Most of the detainees are shirtless or completely naked. An Israeli soldier can be seen stomping on the head of one Palestinian man who is on his back, his bound hands covering his face. The man cries out for his mother in Arabic. He is then dragged away, screaming.
In the graphic video showing a bound man kicked as he kneels, only the assailant’s foot and leg are visible on camera; however, the detainee is next to a car, and the attacker’s reflection can be seen in its hood, appearing to show a man in uniform.
The assailant speaks in Hebrew, then Arabic, then Hebrew again: “Listen, did you like Paz’s good morning? Now he wants us to speak in Arabic. Good morning, whore. Good morning, whore. Spit on you, sheep f—er.”
Now I’m not the greatest expert in Palestinian-Egyptian relations or Palestinian-Jordanian relations, but I don’t think this sort of behavior is happening in Egypt or Jordan

There’s a difference between disliking Islam and disliking every single Muslim on sight and committing hate crimes on them,
Also not every Muslim is an Islamist, Islamism is a political subsection of Islam that not every Muslim even agrees on the definition let alone agrees that they should follow. Islamism isn’t even inherently fanatical
@The Smiling Pony
The attacker who killed the boy literally screamed “you Muslims must die” while he was choking his mother
And for more hate crimes committed against people who are Muslim, a man was arrested for threatening to shoot two Muslim men
They are absolutely incidents of hate and violence rising against Muslims in general and all of its completely retarded to argue otherwise
Islam is a religion, not a race. What’s next, can’t dislike Scientology?
If someone was threatening to force a Scientologist out of a bar just for being a Scientologist, not because they did anything, then yes I would say it’s wrong for that person to hate a religion

Yeah it’s like I said earlier, Israel “taking out” Hamas means nothing if the conditions that lead to Hamas forming remains
Say what you will of the allies occupation of Germany and Japan after WW2, I sure as hell will, but they at least had the brainpower to realise that to ensure at least the populace of each country didn’t want to outright seek total revenge afterwards, which is why they invested billions of dollars into the countries, which paid off massively
Sure they were political crises like the Anpo protests that threatened the relations between the newly dominant US and their formerly occupied nations, but for the most part it was at least cordial

You know, the fundamental problem with the “Israel is getting of Hamas for Gazans” take is that Israel isn’t getting rid of the conditions that led to the formation and growth of Hamas
In order for Israel to truly get rid of Hamas, they need to address the core issues that led Palestinians into forming Hamas, like the right of return, mass poverty of Palestinians, lack of freedom of movement etc.
They essentially need to do to Gaza what America did to Japan after WW2 to even justify that line of argument, but even the most left wing party in the Knesset that isn’t Arab dominated won’t even consider doing that, so they are dooming themselves to the cycle of violence all over again
@tehwatever
I won’t be surprised if it was a bunch of actual children doing this which is why the messages sound so cartoonish/straight up childish. Middle class westernised Muslim children deciding to be anti-semitic because it’s seen as “edgy” and “transgressive”
Essentially the Western Muslim equivalent of the alt right pipeline more or less
With that being said, college is giant circlejerk and I won’t be surprised if some pro-palestinian people circlejerked themselves so hard that they made death threats against a Jewish institution because they genuinely believe they will help Palestinians stop being bombed or something
So it’s either middle class white people larping as Islamic militants or mjddle class children larping as Islamic militants
@YourPalContrail
Marx’s On The Jewish Question at worst uses anti-semitic tropes in service of a larger argument but imo I don’t think it’s anti semitic. In the article, Marx was arguing against someone who thought Jews need to get rid of their Jewishness to gain political and civic rights. I basically agree with the take by David Mcllean that the whole second part of the essay is “an extended pun at Bauer’s(person Marx is responding to) expense“. Part of the reason for this confusion is that while both Bauer and Marx’s texts are called “The Jewish Question” and “On the Jewish Question” respectively, they ultimately delve into the question of general human emancipation from societal woes. Bauer blames religion, Marx blames class society, and Judaism is used an unfortunate means of discussing it.
Essentially whether or not you see it is anti semitic is how seriously you think Marx was being when he uses Judaism as a branching off point to talk about the material-ideal dialectic of Capitalism. I don’t think Marx was being very serious at all. I personally think Marx was just being an edgelord in response to Bruno Bauer, which I suppose you can argue is still anti-semitic, but like, closer to early Idubbz style racism rather than Adolf Hitler

Yeah man, when someone says “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children”, they’re not being antisemitic, they’re just talking about protecting their own kids
That’s not even remotely comparable, the 14 words are almost exclusively used by white supremacists while “From the river to the sea” is not, it’s a common slogan used by many differing organisations with differing views

The discourse over the phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is insane to me
Yes, in some instances, the people who use it are anti semitic, but in many cases, people are just using it to refer to stopping the occupation of Palestine, or simply stopping the repression of the Palestinian people rather than the nation state itself
Even in the cases where people are calling for a one state solution with a Palestinian state, idk, it’s still not anti semitic to me. It’s no more racist than the former revisionist Zionist slogan “Two Banks has the Jordan – This is ours and, that is as well”
To act as if every person who uses that phrase is an anti semite is utterly insane
Ultimately the discourse over the term is basically this

The idea that something being immune to the philosophy of “if the boot fits” simply because of it being “a negative” that “cannot be proven” only falls flat on it’s face, because when it comes to basically anyone throwing around the assertion of any one particular thing being a case of if the boot fits, then whether or not the thing they’re focusing on is a negative will not even matter in the slightest to them.
I mean, do you really think that anyone who is throwing that assertion around is even going to give a damn about if there’s somehow low-key asking the other side to “prove a negative”?
No, because they couldn’t care less about if the side they’re pointing fingers at has any proof to dispel their premonition.
That’s just how the situation works. đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž
You know, this reminds me of a bit in Dan Olson’s Decentraland video where he talks about a purported decentralised news agency that was so radically populist that they wanted to give viewers the ability to vote off reporters(with a crypto token of course)
Instead of advocating for ways to stay better informed in a time when news journalism is the biggest supporter of systemic power that it’s ever been, it instead goes so radically populist that it straight up creates the synopsis for a dystopia as the structure of its news agency
You remind me of that, you completely ignore any form of evidence, any form of logic or sense for a radical populist “if the boot fits”. It doesn’t matter that there’s no proof that Clinton did anything malicious with her email situation, but if the boot fits

Between conflating all Palestinians with Hamas or the PLO and people ignoring the very anti semitic aspects of many pro-Palestine marches, it’s like nuance just completely died
I literally debated with someone who thinks detaining people from the West Bank without trial or even charging with a crime is justified because Hamas is firing rockets from Gaza. Just very intelligent and big brained takes all around
