So amongst this whole drama about G5 ending and the further divide between G4 and G5 fans, one guy I’ve seen involved in it here changed his personal title to “Leader of the G4 purists” or something. Yeah that’s really not something to be proud of or wear as a badge of honor, that’ll just make people look at you differently.

In light of the recent controversy involving Andy Price and Misty, I just want to say it really disappoints me that the internet has learned nothing from the Zamii070 incident.

For those unaware, Zamii070 was a Steven Universe fan artist who back in 2015 received major harassment, including death threats, for supposedly promoting whitewashing, fat-shaming, and transphobia. Why was she accused of these things? Because she didn’t draw Steven Universe characters the “correct” way (i.e. their skin tones had to be a certain shade, their bodies had to be a certain size, and their overall designs had to be a certain amount of masculine or feminine). The harassment got so bad that Zamii attempted to kill herself, and while the attempt was thankfully unsuccessful, she briefly ended up in the hospital, and the harassers attempted to track down the hospital she was staying at so they could attack her even further. This ultimately led to the staff of Steven Universe themselves stepping in to defend Zamii, which only resulted in the harassers turning on the very creators of the show they were apparently fans of.

Despite the amount of backlash the harassers got at the time, the idea of attacking fan artists for drawing certainly characters “incorrectly” has unfortunately become a fairly common occurrence on the internet, and as we’ve seen with Andy Price, now extends to official artists as well. I wish more people would take the following image’s advice.

This whole thing is stupid with these so called fans who have to shove their preferences down people’s throats.

I still fail to see the appeal for most MLP Dark Fics.

90% of the time are unenjoyable chores.

Funnily enough 7% could still believably fit within the show’s canon flavor.

And the 3% rest you still have something or someone to root for without feeling the cost will be too high for the enjoyment.

Didn’t people joined MLP to add up to the hobby collection so dark stuff can be dark stuff away? I suppose personally speaking for dark and edgy stuff I’d rather watch the horror movie channel or pick a random comic book.

Dark comedies are usually the exception to me.

Well discounting troll fics like Cupcakes sometimes I feel the fandom can get a lil bit too, let’s say obsessed with making rather scary or overtly heart wrenching stories. Ocasionally I don’t know if some stories are borderline sadism porn or just ill implemented attempts to be mature.

many people compare Misty and Opaline’s relationship with that of Rapunzel and Gothel.

but this comparison is wrong, the only thing that Gothel and opaline have in common is that they are both vain and obsessed with magic.

but the basis of their relationship with Misty and Raponzel are completely different, Opaline treated her like a servant, constantly belittled her and had a very clear disdain for Misty, Gothel despite everything treated Raponzel well, wanted her to be as isolated as possible and makes her believe who was her mother and genuinely loved her and after Raponzel discovered the conspiracy behind.

The real Disney relationship that is comparable between Misty and Opaline is the Frollo and Quasimodo relationship.

Both welcomed their disciples from a young age in a vulnerable situation despite their type, even though they raised them they treated them as who should be grateful to them, without being open in saying that they see them as incompetent, manipulating them by saying that no one would care about them for being freaks, it was only when Misty/Quasimodo discovered true kindness and friendship that they realized the evil of their masters and opposed them.
plus opaline and frollo have a fire theme.

I’ve lost a lot of interest in G5

They should have at least made the episodes ten minutes long

It’s not even about TYT, its just this gen in general i’ve lost interest in since like a year or two ago?

Everything after the movie and the first 2 seasons of MYM (im not calling them chapters becuase that’s still stupid) was just looking more unappealing and i lost interest in continuing the gen

In hindsight it’s obvious that Sprout was carrying this whole generation on his back.

No trying to tie back to G5/4, just its own thing things seperate from the other continuities

If it does tie back, then at least commit to the bit.

Among other things G5 was held back because they didn’t even have the license to the characters or setting the generation was supposed to be following up on.

So I know about this whole drama involving Misty’s hair from the IDW comics, but the fact that someone wrote an entire document about it and detailing all the “racism” in the fandom from this little incident is crazy.
