Man I try to give an mini essay defending Starlight as a character that could appeal to all ages and I get “mind rape of brony waifus to trigger the brony fandom”.

I’m not mad. I just find it humorous. I want to respond but at the same time I know this guy’s probably stubborn. And it is the stupid pony thread so I don’t know if I want to burden others.

But man, every so often I’m just amazed at how sometimes debate feels like its regressed to 2017. Also waifus? I keep thinking people say that only as a joke.

Is this why bronies are seen as a joke?

I think I know who he is. If he’s trolling at this point, he’s way too serious and straight-face about it. Of course, he’s trying to stay relevant….with outdated drama that we don’t care about anymore.

Pretty interesting!

I’ve always seen Sunny as sort of like Starlight as well.

They both can be bold sometimes for the better (like in cutie mark swap episode) and sometimes for the worse (like mind controlling the Mane Six), they both are trying to live up to Twilight’s example, they often rebel against the conventional ways of thinking. And both end up being leaders in some ways for Starlight a schoolmaster and Sunny a princess.

You know it’s possible for people to get excited for new G4 content without dissing on the previous or current gens. But that seems to be a difficult thing for this fandom to do…

Some of those I can tell are just 4chan trolls.

I remember when they revealed a new character for the G5 comics, which was Violette Rainbow who has dreads, and I made a joke about how I could use her hair as a mop and someone got triggered and gave me a lecture on how blacks have been marginalized through history for their hair because of comments of mine. I was like “Okay? She’s just a character, it’s not like I’m saying it to an actual person and I said it in jest, no sincerity behind it”

I need to admit: When it comes to artists, I’m a bit iffy/half in half about Flutterthrash. Back in the day, I used to love his artwork of ponies dressed in Heavy/Thrash metal outfits, but I’m not terribly fond of his NSFW stuff half the time. For instance, I find the way he draws breasts a bit off - they come across looking a bit too tube/sausage-shaped, as well as the facial expressions of the characters sometimes. Not quite my cuppa. Fine if anyone disagrees, but just my two cents
