Now Hasbro is in trouble, I don’t think the whole thing about MLP is going to be well received if it happens at the same time as G.I. Joe, which is one of the most American things in the eyes of the rest of the world, and Power Rangers, which is partially iconic.
Peppa Pig…? We Europeans are familiar with this, because it is British and therefore first on European TV before the Americans. This is for toddlers as part of a European entertainment tradition of light-hearted and practical entertainment for children as part of education - and thus in reality has very little depth. Anthropomorphic “funny animals” in slice-of-life episodes about family, familial activity etc. as these are called are common, but very rarely appreciated - because these are perceived to be frivolous and childish. We Europeans don’t care about this - and the G3 almost fell into this category.
The situation seems completely incomprehensible, G5 is “shut down” without a word about what is to come, with extraordinarily bad customer service and it seems that the same is happening with these brands that “dropped out”. Nothing from IDW about what will come. Nothing else, this idea of secrecy is how not to do it.
The last TYT episode only emphasized that Hasbro doesn’t care about the MLP brand or the fans. It feels like an insult and an undignified farewell for everyone who had turned up to catch the latest episodes on Youtube. And it can be seen that many are upset about the situation around G5, nobody knows if there will be G6, and there is falling confidence in the current management at Hasbro regarding My Little Pony’s future. Signals of confusion and frustration came from those working with MLP.
