@Dustcan
I mean, tbf, MYM ended off having finished one story completely, with just the hook and setup for another one, in case it got renewed but knowing it might not (and supposedly, a season 2 was pitched to Netflix but was rejected, though I don’t know if that’s true or just speculation - Netflix was apparently covering the production costs for MYM in exchange for the distribution license); therefore, while SoS makes for a bit of a strange ending point, it does function as a final episode.
That’s quite different from TYT, which was cancelled in the middle of production (and so the last episode will certainly be obviously not intended as such).
What’s interesting is that Netflix apparently also funded s1 of TYT, so it was contractually obligated to Netflix’s standards, while s2 of TYT was not (it’s strange, and I have a bit of a hard time believing it, but it does make things, like the foreign dubs being reduced in quantity, and going to lower quality studios, make some sense)

Agreed 100%
@Wiimeiser
Well, I mean, probably not - I dunno for sure, but I do know that Hulu in the US and Hulu Japan are completely separate companies, and have been for 10 years now (IIRC, Hulu Japan was sold off to Nippon TV back in 2014).
And yeah, I’m sure Disney will probably never launch Hulu outside those territories - not just because it has no brand recognition outside there, but because like you said, people are more used to the Star hub on Disney+ in places outside the US (or even Star+, a separate service like Hulu in the US, in Latin America) - aka brand recognition. I have a sneaking suspicion, though, that the reason they didn’t do it before was because they didn’t want to end up paying a higher price to Comcast when they finally bought out Comcast’s stake and took complete control of Hulu (which I believe happened earlier this year)
@WestRail642fan
I mean, going off memory, things were vague enough in SoS that the new details could possibly work. But don’t quote me on that

G1 walked so G4 could run. And G4 ran so G5 could trip over its own shoelaces right at the starting line.

The greatest irony of all?
Hasbro almost certainly considers this a greater success than G4.
They were never truly comfortable with G4 bronies. By the time they started warming up to us it was almost too late to truly capitalize on us… Nor did they truly put in the effort to do so. The target audience was never teens and adults, especially not the males of them. The intended audience was and remains little girls, 0-10 years.
To them they nailed it this time around. They even sunk the money into full video games, not just a couple mobile games.
I still get the feeling Hasbro resents us. They just want to make simple little 20 minute advertisements to sell colorful toys to little girls, and while they’re very happy to take our money they also really don’t like the sort of… ick factor MLP fandom has among the broader population.
Most of the artists, writers, and actors likely get why we like G4 so much- they’re there to make art, after all, and by now there could be people working at Hasbro who grew up watching Gen 4. But the suits who are only there to make the line go up? They probably think we’re gross freaks and don’t understand why we like this stupid cartoon for toddlers. I agree with KMCA, the fact G5 didn’t become popular outside of the target demographic was a big success in the eyes of executives.

I dunno. It’s very rare to see a recently dead cartoon being praised like that to automatically start that kind of movement. The negative ones had burned it more than it can be healed. And without a conclusion to TYT, the feel of an authentic on-screen ending obviously does not feel right.
I do feel burned out on G5, but you do you I guess.

@Wiimeiser
Doubt it, considering the executives consider it a success.
However, I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to focus on 5-minute content going forward or something like that.

Something I realized:
Does anyone think that if Hasbro had better financial stability, G5 would’ve survived? Would they kept Boulder Media for both?
