Then it’s over, and one can sense that Whitley is ashamed of the whole plot which is completely meaningless and uninformed, with the exception of Danu who went berserk it went as expected, the cunabulans were far above their heads literally attacking Canterlot, and if the other element bearers had not arrived, Twilight would have used drastic methods. As assumed, there is no friendship and unity between cunabulans, Danu learned that one must earn loyalty rather than demand it. That was just when everything went wrong for them.
Unfortunately we did not see how the cunabulans were taken down, but there is no doubt that they have been punished - the mildest they can expect is permanent deportation from the rest of the world. What makes it impossible to petrify or send them to Tartarus is because their great-grandparents were responsible for the heinous crimes. Nor did we see Discord’s explanation of his actions. He just ran away with no room to explain himself. Too little space in the issue.
Anticlimax. It went exactly as feared, a moan rather than a victory cry. But it is interesting that a link with the transformers universe is created in the last page of the issue.
But it is now the canon; the Friendship Empire exists in G4. And it could be Sunny`s last task in the G5 when the reconstruction work is to be completed. I do not think the element bearers will come into conflict with each other in the future, in fact it is possible that the mysterious event that took the magic from Equestria - perhaps the whole world - predicted that Sunny will need allies - many allies - if the worst of the worst villains in the whole Ponyverse were to come to Equus.

We should have seen it much earlier. There are still a long list of unanswered questions, and Whitney has created dozens of new questions with just the last issue. The creation of Friendship Empire should have happened much more neatly than just creating new villains as a mobilization basis for new friends who would thus agree to start an alliance which thus forms the basis for Equus`s response to the UN from our own world. These villains remain a dark stain that can not be washed away, nothing knows, and nothing we got to know about these and the country they came from, Cunabula!
Even when the villains were convinced of their right and that they are on the good side. We have not received an answer as to why we see deviant signs of harmonious features of society in the realms and why the cunabulan element bearers could do the opposite of what their elements represent. Since Harmony has “cleaned up” as seen when Zecora confronted herself in the temple, this problem is solved, and I have a feeling that Discord would have explained this if it had not been cut out of the story.
But the most important thing has happened; The Friendship Empire has been created, and it is possible that this has existed for many centuries until the magic disappeared, and from what little is known - especially since the Everfree forest seemed to have been wiped out by something very powerful - it was all over the world rather than just the ponies. The technology in G5 will have been a natural result of a global common society. This means that Equestria - divided into twelve states - and the other two continents - was united until “quite recently” before Sunny Starscout came into being. So Sunny has to find non-ponies in her mission to return the world to the golden age. That will be what Twilight, who may still be alive, will want from her heir.
By tearing away the plot with multiple element trees and then sitting back with the characters, the lore about the various realms and then the new political conditions that have been created, Whitney stumbled and gave us something valuable; a united world - or at least a world that can be united by friendship.
Thus, the foundation for the world of the G5 is created.

Good point, it could be possible that it was united until recently.
It is a logical possibility, because the movie has revealed to us that the ponies had reached a technological level that is only possible through a global resource utilization system such as in our world, smartphones, computer technology, TV technology etc, this is not possible to create in a solitary country, far less a locality. In addition, further studies had shown that the technological abyss between the three sites is due to resource availability and level of expertise. The unicorns were the worst off by having no expertise and few resources, yet they know about modern communication technology.
This means that a global common society had existed when the magic disappeared, and that “the Friendship Empire” may have formed the core of this, as Equestria, Abyssinia, Caninia, Farasi and Ornithia are probably the most prosperous and prominent nations among the many at least three continents. Equestria with a continental country, Abyssinia as a leading trading country, Caninia with many colonies, Farasi which probably forms part of the mysterious continent where the zebras live, and Ornithia with the airship fleets together are as with the USA, Germany, France, Japan and an African country. And when we also know that Celestia and Twilight had arranged an alliance with Yakyakistan, Seaquestria, the Griffon nations (Griffonstone probably one of several) and the Changeling Swarm, it means that Twilight is in direct contact with eight countries in addition to Equestria.
And then we do not count the kirins and the dragons, the former may have a homeland in another continent while the dragons could travel freely all over the world. Only two realms seem to remain, the minotaurs - here Pencils may have something going on - and the centaurs, including the others they live with.
If the disappearance of the magic had happened mysteriously without warning - the damage is too great to blame for a magical war that Danu thought would happen - and by using the greatest magical concentration in the world, the Everfree forest itself, it would throw the whole world into chaos and darkness. Then the location of the lighthouse is not accidental; it is not just for Equestria that a candle of hope is lit.

Come to think of it, The Observer was writing a book. Something tells me the entirety of season 10 was chapter 1. I wonder what chapter 2 would be?
We may have seen part of chapter 2 with the crossover comics. There we found out that Chrysalis had escaped, and that Sombra is alive, and captured, more spirit than being. We do not know if there will be more stories on individual series of three to four or five issues, but it may well suit IDW who want fewer expenses and easier ways out for future releases.
At the very least, IDW has not given up on the idea of the “Twenty Year Season” that S10 is really meant to be. The Generations comics that are underway may slide into the S10 in the future. IDW should have it because they do not want to give up so easily.
And then the fans should pay more.

So the knights truly believe that the elements can only be used for bad and while trying to protect there country, have no problem attacking innocents and killing good people on the grounds of others having elements. So how do u feel about a possible redemption for them?

Their fate was not shown, possibly because Whitney realized that a too lenient punishment would be too controversial, even for merciful fans. The cunabulans are too Nazi-like, and there is much to suggest that they had caused the collapse of world unity that had existed before Discord’s invasion.
If Danu had not gone berserk and been very close to killing thousands of ponies, it is possible that Twilight would have drawn them to a world conference to judge them or banished them to Cunabula. After that, it means that the heads of state who have become prosecutors, juries and judges - will have no choice but to punish the cunabulan element bearers. Starswirl will have come up with important advice that Twilight must follow, and she had to listen to the others about the prisoners’ fate.
  1. Take away from the element bearers their magic, since they are of chimerian nature it can mean a permanent death if the element magic can not be separated.
  2. Petrify them. The harmony magic has this ability, and the Harmony will allow this.
  3. Send them to Tartarus forever, but then they will only become other people’s problems in later times.
  4. Send them to Cunabula, but under strong surveillance with a spell that can prevent magical abuse, and then be prepared to destroy the island.
  5. If Danu had succeeded, he and the other element bearers would have been wanted and hunted to their death and Cunabula would have been wiped off the face of the world. At least a dozen realms and the royal sisters will take care of that. Starswirl would have pushed for execution.
The problem with the cunabulans is that they are a serious danger to themselves and others by abusing their magic, so that they end up being a negative reflection of what they were supposed to represent, patriotism is not meant to promote brutality against different people and indifference between their own people. We do not know why they use harmony magic to “charge up” different magic as with Danu and his earth manipulation magic, or why the elements associated with the temples followed to the opposite as discovered in Ornithia. I think malfunctioning element magic is what had made the cunabulans so dangerous, even to themselves.
In our world, we would have gone for permanent solutions, and then try to seek a compromise with those remaining in Cunabula. The cunabulan element bearers are too dangerous, Danu appeared to have been completely brainwashed. We know nothing about Cunabula, but there is something very wrong with this country.
Whitney has given us an impossibility that in a more ruthless world would have slipped right into, but not in an MLP world. Sombra was killed repeatedly. Chrysalis lost everything she had, before being petrified along with Cozy Glow and Tirek. Storm King was killed. Villains who went too far and are perceived as an erratic danger, ended up being permanently taken out. This was the rule in the MLP G1, and partly respected in the G4.

Well, Discord did corrupt them in the past, so…
We would have seen it. We saw how the Mane 6 was corrupt when Discord - wait a minute - “reverse” their magic related to the elements. Just like with a lot of what we see around the element trees before Harmony fixed them and the cunabulan element bearers?
In any case, the royals were not exposed to his corruption spells because then the G4 would have been very different, and the other element bearers did not show signs of having become corrupt. Instead, Discord should have manipulated them by lying and persuading them. This is not exactly Discord’s strongest skill, he is not good at refined lies, as seen repeatedly in both the show and the comics. When he played Grogar by taking advantage of his knowledge of the ram, it’s because he stayed within a script - and we saw that he kept coming up with scripts. Discord at its most dangerous was when he followed his plans as a very talented actor. But open manipulation without magic and without fixed plans? We have seen that he constantly stumbles when he had nothing to hold on to. Cosmos and others were better at manipulating him because he was too arrogant and self-absorbed.
Discord would not have said he was willing to speak out if he had done so, which means he has a different version of what Danu said. But he did not get the chance to do so. And we can not believe in Danu completely uncritically, his behavior shows that he was brainwashed to follow the ideals of Cunabula with a strong bitterness that may have been created by the difficult conditions in his home. He believes with strong conviction in what he was raised with, and thus failed to see the flaws in his own narrative or acknowledge the arguments of others in his arrogance.
And it is possible that the actual leaders of Cunabula may have cloned him and the others in the systematic “production” of element bearers. Danu was not only a villain, he is also a victim of circumstances that he could not control in his upbringing. The cunabulans several generations before him had made him and the other bearers victims of their hubris. We saw a bitter being strongly influenced by his upbringing that was too deeply influenced by the past. He could believe lies if only to confirm his own considerations.
Obviously why Applejack looked so angry at him all the time. If Danu is just banished, there is little hope for him.

Yeah, you bring up a good point. I do believe there’s a chance they could get reformed.
