It’s a public Discord server, and the link to it is the contact page, so it’s far from opaque. I’m quite sure you’ve seen multiple screencaps of things from it just in the last week, and the discussion shown in such isn’t meant to be secret.
It is still not a discussion on the site, with the site’s actual community. It is not revealed on the go to said actual site community, and as far as I’m aware this whole issue has been caused, at best, by head-staff deciding things based on (detached) Discord community’s opinion/speaking for those who have not agreed to be spoken for - and hence discussing it on Discord is not an improvement.

Only mentioning nazism opens up the way to one-sided interpretation of the rules. I’m sure you’ve seen all the “socioeconomic theories” and “doesn’t really matters” and “not ideologies”.
Also, you as staff can see deleted images. How much of real “pushing/promoting nazism” has been uploaded, and consequently deleted, in the last six years excluding this summer? It’s an important statistic that’s so far been missing.

You’re going to need to be exceedingly precise in defining these terms. Especially hate speech and drama bait. Because what might be a funny “drama bait” picture will probably get deleted if the mod/admin/whoever it’s poking fun at doesn’t like it.

More like “not recreated it”. It did turn into a discussion on ways in which communism and all other ideologies are awful and singling out national-socialism (which similarly hasn’t been REALLY tried because what NSDAP did isn’t what words “national-socialism” mean, as pointed out by someone in this thread) is dumb.

why not make it so that content that isn’t objectively disallowed on the site (illegal content) is simply marked for deletion instead, and other staff members have to vote on whether or not to actually delete it
this would certainly help with the issue of individual moderators removing things they personally don’t like (although this assumes there is a wide variety of views and beliefs among the site staff)

Of course to both points. Wording these things so they are clear but not so detailed that they run into legalese is very tricky. And yes, getting mods on the same page 100% of the time is not easy, especially for things that touch things that effect them personally. If there’s anything that you feel was removed unfairly you’re always welcome to appeal it. We’re human and mistakes do happen.

If you want a more appropriate thread to ask them, you should make one instead of trying to catherd people to a place that’s the source of most of our issues, and which is filled with people who have purposefully made the topic difficult to discuss.

If there’s anything that you feel was removed unfairly you’re always welcome to appeal it. We’re human and mistakes do happen.
That would be much easier if parity with Booru-on-Rails was finished, as it has shown the tags of the deleted images plainly on the page with reason.
Oh and seriously, mods responsible for merges and thread-closures need to be recorded and shown again. For some reason - I don’t know what - that data was removed from Booru-on-Rails late in its life.

That would likely be a better option. As all it needs is to cite which rule and how it broke it. It then allows a way for the user to respond without making a post in the forum/discord/ect which is unlily to get a response.

Deleted images in Philomena don’t show tags to non-staff? I’ll have to look at that, as that’s clearly a language porting loss that I’m not a fan of (I was the one who made the tags show in Booru-on-Rails, with the specific reason of transparency/convenience to users, as it’s no fun to find an old image is deleted and not know what it was about).

Ok? I don’t think I’m alone in thinking you deserved to get that hate.
But the appropriate forum thread for asking mods questions was STILL locked and not everyone is okay going offsite to speak to mods. You could have easily made a new thread and temp banned anyone that got too out of hand for the purposes of that thread.

I’ve already seen the content rules expand after this started, so I am quite suspicious of any new rules put in place in the future. I have been given no reason to trust the moderation team here.

It has never been none. I’ve been working very hard to keep as much content as possible given the circumstances though and it’s worth giving an eye to both sides since they both have valid points. It’s not an easy balance or decision to make, and I’m making it mostly by listening to people and trying to get as much feedback as I can before the actual decision is made.

Ah, it was probably an oversight. The entire tag area is supposed to display on deleted image pages (with buttons not there of course; they only show up at all if you are able to use them). I’ll try to fix this within the next several hours.

I will say this.
While derpibooru is hosted in the US, and most of the fandom is US based- do not ignore us international users. We have a far lower tolerance of Nazi conetnet and what is classed as hate speech comapred to the USA.
