Sweet F.A.
Anyone have any disheartening/demoralizing stories of being a musician? I’ll start.
In 2014, I was playing with my band Dark Matter at a multi-billed gig. We were packing up after our three-song set and the following band really wanted to take the stage, so one of them told my dad to “Get your kids off the stage” (I was 17 at the time).
On its own, it wouldn’t have been too bad yet—I mean, it was dickish, but not more than that—but then the band started “helping” us pack up, and they took my upper keyboard on my two-keyboard setup and and TOSSED IT OFF THE STAGE onto my soft keyboard case below. Thankfully, the keyboard still works, but a number of the keys are still cracked because of that. Also, thankfully, it wasn’t my big synthesizer they tossed off the stage; I would’ve thrown hands then.
Oh, and they also ran off with two of my instrument cables.
I never found out what band it was, but supposedly they never performed at that venue again before it was demolished in 2018.
