Twilight: are the ponies ok?

I keep imagining that in a story arc where Twilight is slowly corrupted with dark magic, this moment is brought up by Rainbow Dash in one issue, and the dark magic kicks in for a moment, and Twilight gets angry and shouts at Rainbow Dash.  
Rainbow Dash: Let’s hope whoever we’re after doesn’t trick us into letting them out once we catch ‘em. You know, like the time Queen Chrysalis duped Twilight into–  
Twilight: (Instant Dark Magic tantrum) DON’T EVER MENTION THAT AGAIN, RAINBOW DASH!

the door was probably magic-proof so that Chrysalis couldn’t blast open the door, or have anything teleported in or out of the room, so Twilight could most likely only get the book in there by opening the door, in other words Chrysy took advantage of one of Twilight’s greatest weaknesses, BOOKS!

Even Fluttershy is angry at this failure.

I swear that at some point there’s going to be a comic where Celestia chews out Discord for tricking Twilight into holding the dangerous artifact known as “The Idiot Ball” after she nearly banished him the last time he did that.

I don’t see the problem. Couldn’t Luna just wipe them all out with the nightmare that actually kills them? It would seem to be the logical ending:  
Chrysalis: “We will drain all their life, and they can’t stop us!”  
Changeling 1?: “But what about peace?”  
Changeling 2?: “Yeah, why not find an alternative?”  
Chrysalis: “We’ve done too much, and I don’t care for the ponies!”  
Changeling 1?: “Exactly.”  
Changeling 3?: “Your kind has done too much.”  
Luna, nightmare form: “So I shall end your species.”

I guess I use Huns as the closest I can think of to a Human comparison for them, given the changelings give off a nomadic horde of barbarians bent on conquest.

They’re clearly not a hive-mind, since they’re shown talking and acting as individuals. Honestly, they barely seem to operate as a hive and more like a horde of orcish-ponies. Their like the Mlp version of the Huns.

Well, Chrysalis and her first hordes certainly first emerged from their primordial ooze, but it is entirely possible they breed amongst each other and produce adorably evil foals.

After this issue, I thought they just spawned from seeds with pure evil and stuff. If they have children, does that mean they have baby-making rituals?

Yes, but keep in mind the fact that they’re a hive-mind. And that they feed off love and power and that they’ we done terrible things too many times. They are to be removed from the “big picture” altogether.
