This might not be the best place ro ask, but is there a pro Ai thread in the forums? Where people can trade tips on generating?

Like… no? If you have some unusual reference which is hard to find, ai is probably not going to give it to you too and before writing that i tried to generate an unusual but not over the top pose reference i’d need… and as expected, it repeatedly gave me generic pose instead of the one i asked for.

I’ve looked through you art too and haven’t found anything which “WOULD REQUIRE” ai asap. The things you draw are not too hard to find a reference on or enable some 3d thinking to turn the unfitting ref into the fitting one.

But i guess there’s no point in arguing with you as you’re faving ai “consciously” what perfectly fits you into the crutchy “please let me use this shit anyhow” group of people ¯_:( _/¯, das sad that people i share native language with are still trying to push this ai infection, but not surprising anymore

It’s pretty hard to find exactly what you need just looking through google, or pinterest, or existing art in general. I used to spend hours before starting any piece gathering inspiration and references. Generative models just give you whatever you ask them for. If only there was an engine looking for references based on detailed description just as fast as AI makes them
I’m not the least skilled of them artists, and I consider AI to be, in fact, useful as a tool

Spending too much time being critical of the worst excesses of AI derpiness on Discord has actually made me more critical of human-made art as well. Before AI, I would’ve said “cute” or been too busy thinking with my lower head to notice. Now, I clearly see that wing looks painted onto his skin instead of being a separate body part reaching back (for example).

Referencing ai is just a crutch, what’s really behind it is “just let me use this shit at least anywhere please” because it’s that useless if you can draw. Just reference other normal art and stop trying to find a silly way to make the useless shit useful

I personally see ai just as tool for artists. Find a inspiration for pose, composition, maybe even pallete. I not think what AI will make real artists useless - i prefer compare art with noodles. AI - a fast noodle, it fast, almost free, can be even tasty - but it still a trashfood. Artist ones are like italian pasta - can be not ideal, but much more great and deserve theis price

If AI brings in any kind of short-term profits, such as not having to pay concept artists/voice actors/etc, I think they’ll not see it, or decide not to >_>

Yep,, and while I doubt this will happen, we can only hope that big corporations will see that ai is kinda dangerous (not just to artists, of course, I mean in a general sense)

This is why you never say “never”, even though this one hurts a little bit… Who could’ve imagined today’s results of AI engines even five years before?

Reminds of when the New York Times predicted that humain flight wouldn’t be feasible before one million years, roughly nine weeks before Wright Brothers’s historic flight.

Real Art (pre-1900) with symbols and deep meaning, might take a bit more time for computers to be done correctly, but what AI produces now decently is mostly soulless illustration and placeholder pictures, which unfortunately for artists were already a large share of commercial pictures production industry…

The biggest damage is the perception that digital art is easy.

One that already existed.

AI is not even easy, but it somehow spreads the perception that art is easy.

I remember seeing a video documentary once that said “robots can replace any job, but they can’t replace artists” and wow that aged well ! Ppl are saying that ai still isn’t that good, which is totally true, but haven’t we noticed how well it’s developed within just 3 years?? Imagine the difference in 10 or 20!!

I mean… Who wouldn’t do that? People always go for the easiest, cheapest and more convenient solution.

Artists should’ve seen it coming, everything done by hand ends up being made by machines for cheap. Though the hilariously bad early results of Dall.e & co probably mislead people into thinking AI would never be able to compete with humains…

AI is still not that good. I thought robots would be whipping humans in the street by now.

Like it almost looks good, but making art requires a lot more knowledge of art than just the ability to draw the image.

I cannot express how important this is. You’re right and people clearly are not educated enough on how this will affect real artists. Instead of paying for commissions, people could use a free AI to replicate an artstyle they enjoy. This will literally kill commercial artists. Yes, we can still do commissions and post art for fun. But the reality of it is that commercial art (book covers, advertising, even short animations) will be MAJORLY affected by AI in the coming years. Us artists gotta stick together in the war against AI!!

That’s right, AI art kinda revealed the existence of people who upvote without actually clicking the thumbnail… the new AI policy is good for solving that, in theory, no more crudely upscaled AI pictures hopefully

The caption on the bottom right of the first image seems to acknowledge this point without realizing it’s the central point. Looks good at thumbnail preview but is uncanny when viewed full-rez was one of the points of contention on AI art being posted here and people complaining about how many updoots it earned.

Art on top of the picture is plastered on every new Kickstarter campaigns, quite a few graphic designers were not hired for these jobs, actually… The placeholder pictures market might be suffering a lot these days.

AI art is certainly not perfect, but being good enough is all that’s needed, sometimes (and I mean everytime)

So are people angry at AI for being able to replace humans or are they angry at AI for sucking at replacing humans?
