@TB Tabby
The bug is not the strange thing here, but rather… someone uses that button?!

Anyway, no: it shows an actually random picture to me, and changes each time.

When I click “Random Watched Image,” it always shows me the newest watched image instead of a random one. Is that happening for anyone else?

Btw, finally fixed my error. Had to install some service pack updates (I normally shy clear from those as they severely slow down my connection at times) and update to IE v11. No more “derpibooru cache view mode”. Suggest Nights look into updating those.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

The two navigation arrows (previous, next) don’t work, they keep reloading the current image. The find image (up arrow) produces an empty page.
They worked yesterday (at least the up arrow worked).
Is it just me, or can you not click the arrows, or type k, for the next image to load anymore? It just refreshes the current image. This is an issue when I try to fix tags for multiple images in a short time span as it takes longer to load each image in it’s own tab, instead of just typing the k key after every edit…
I am using Firefox if this is the issue.
I am also having this issue. Far as I can tell, it started sometime between friday and saturday night. I use chrome on windows 8.1.

Same issue here with latest Chrome on Windows 7. I thought it was just derping while the site update was underway, but it’s still broken.

Sometimes, when viewing an image on mobile, one or more of the tags will randomly be slightly larger in font size than the others. For example, in mobile Safari, >>746319 has an unusually large “background pony strikes again” tag.

Formatting the disk and reinstalling the OS?

I actually thought about to do this since a while. (One is because //C: is pretty full and I don’t know exactly why. And the system is running pretty slow lately, with a lot going on in the background. Probably need a dedusting too.)

Problem is that my disc drive doesn’t work anymore, and I never formatted to zero before and have no experience with it.

As I said, the laptop I am working on isn’t very new…

Uhm, Ubuntu is Linux.
And yes, Microsoft vowed to churn out new versions of Windows more often.
The time when it left us with the same OS and browser for 5 friggin’ years is over. It’s terribly behind on the mobile OS war and even its desktop dominance could be in discussion in the future.

@Grieffon
It’s definitely a server problem, the browser used has nothing to do with it.

@Mad Black
Surely Java has nothing to do with Derpibooru, but perhaps has something to do with the stability of your system.
Just to make it clear, Java is not Javascript and their execution enviroments on a browser is completely different.

I updated JAVA to the latest version, and looked like it worked, for a moment, but then it crashed in Firefox and Chrome. So I guess I have to use the normal filter for now.

Which is kinda sad, because at first they worked fine when I tested it with a very easy filtering set. hide: (plot AND (explicit OR questionable)
Then I added more to the spoilers and hide section and it stopped working. At first it displayed all the filters instead of hiding/spoiling them.
Then I deleted the new setting from my standard filer and made a new filter to test it out, and it stopped working at all.

I kinda have some problems with the complex filters. Or rather the code doesn’t want to run correctly. On chrome it just says that “You don’t appear to have JavaScript enabled”, but it is. But the site doesn’t want to load.
And in Firefox it crashes completely.
But if I use a filter without the complex setting, it seems to work just fine.

I use a 5 year old Laptop with Windows 7 if that helps. And the browsers update automatically and should be up to date.

So I guess it is a local problem. Most probably with java script itself. Which is on Version 10.67.2.1 at the moment.

I think the complex filter causes some search results to show blank thumbnails. Filters without complex command still works normally.

Here’s my current complex filter:

(inflation AND (explicit OR questionable OR artist:40450))
((irl human AND cosplay) AND NOT artist:sukistar)

Which for some reason, causes searching “shipping” or viewing the tag “shipping” to show blank thumbnails. Adding anything to shipping, e.g. “shipping,rd”, will show normal results. It’s the same for Chrome, IE, and FF.

@NiGHTS4life
It depends on if you can. If you’re using Windows Vista, you can’t.
If it’s Win7-8, you can and you damn should! Even better, upgrade to IE 11.

Or he could wait a few moths longer and get Windows 10. (Is it me or a new versions of windows coming out pretty fast nowadays.)
Or he could get a free version of Linux, Ubuntu or any other open source software.
And IE isn’t the best browser anyway. Firefox or Chrome are in many things and tasks superior.

Please upgrade your computer’s operating system. You haven’t had security updates for years so if your machine isn’t full of viruses by now it’s only by isolation and luck.

Granted that he really should upgrade his OS (is Linux a possibility? If you don’t want to spend money, it’s either that or warez), XP stopped receiving security patches only this April - and then it got another extra one for a really bad breach affecting IE.

XP stopped receiving new software from Microsoft since… 2010, IIRC. No new version of Office, no new versions of Internet Explorer.

Not that this makes the situation much better. Really, if you’re using WinXP swap to another browser at least.

Sorry, I’ve been dealing with assholes all weekend and people trying to be helpful get bunched in with the rest.

My statement on XP being EOL and something you should actively be trying to move away from still stands. At least one of the other users with IE-related issues is on Win7, in any case.

Without any developers able to reproduce this we need actionable information on what exactly is going wrong when the page loads; we expect it to completely fail on WinXP/IE, we don’t expect anything to fail on IE >= 8 on an OS >= Win7. We need network request information and console output at minimum as a starting point.

I wasn’t complaining, FFS, I was trying to be helpful by seeing if I could load the site in an old version of IE on my end and suggesting a possible cause for a problem that has thus far eluded identification. Since, y’know, an obsolescent OS kindasorta might be a legitimate reason for–
we’re trying to figure out what particular little facet of your setup is causing this
Any time you feel like paypallin’ me a few hundred spare USDs to buy a more modern computer, you just let me know; until then I’ll go ahead and stick with my “Use third party antivirus and Windows Embedded Industry updates and refrain from being a click-happy idiot online” strategy with the XP machines I’ve already paid for, thanks.

Windows XP was end-of-lifed years ago. Windows 7 was released almost exactly 6 years ago now. Windows XP has serious issues with modern SSL technologies like TLS, and we choose rather than to support browsers almost a decade out of date and compromise the integrity of our HTTPS service to simply support current modern browsers (Only IE6/7/8 on XP are unsupported by Derpibooru - literally everything else is). This was changed recently in response to the HTTPS POODLE attacks on SSLv3 which forced the final retirement of that particularly ancient protocol.
