I’ve a dotted, white line just to the right of the center of my laptop’s screen. It appeared yesterday afternoon.
Restarting doesn’t help, and google searches aren’t finding me anything that’s working.

I have not banged, dropped, or bumped my laptop as far as I know, but I do have a cat who sneaks into my room when I’m not there, and has messed with it before. (He loves the keyboard)

Does anyone know how to fix this without replacing the screen/laptop?

I’m putting 32 gigs in my next build because I run several things at once. PS for example is a RAM hog. I would say 4 gigs minimum just for PS, not to mention the bare minimum of 2 just for Windows. I chose 7 Ultimate but pro would work fine, even home premium if you don’t need any extras. My build is based on you using your existing case, CD drive, and card reader as well as all existing peripherals (mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc.).

16GB of RAM.
Isn’t that a bit much?
I agree with this, as I have yet to run into an application that needs a lot of memory. 8Gb should be enough, and you can always get more later.

Otherwise, everything someguy111 recommended is what I would agree with. Personally, I’d only get either Windows 7 Home Premium, or Windows 8.1, as the features that come with Ultimate don’t really justify the price IMHO.

Also, what do you have at the moment? Like do you already have a Monitor? A keyboard? A Chassis?

Maybe, again it depends on what you are going to be doing with it. Some games can eat up RAM, plus the extra RAM gives the ability to work with multiple things at once such as having a browser open with dozens of tabs while at the same time working with something in PS. If you think you can get by on say 8 gigs then just buy 1 8GB or 2 4GB sticks and save some money. If the need comes for more RAM just buy more and add it in.

Hmm…900 pounds is $1514 US. You can build something really nice with that. I would recommend an Intel 4770k, an AMD radeon R9 280, 16 gigs of hi perfoamnce Crucial RAM, an Asus Z87-A mobo, a Corsair 750 watt modular power supply, Windows 7 Ultimate, and as far as hard drives I will leave that up to you. I don’t know if you want a lot of space or a lot of speed which would be either a HDD or SSD respecitvley. You can or course have both and use the HDD as bulk and th SSD as a boot drive but again that’s really for you to decide. As far an an SSD I would go with a Samsung 840 Pro 128GB and an HDD a Seagate Enterprise-grade 1TB

Background Pony #BF45
What to do if my game freeze for a split of half second? Sometimes it is annoying, when this lagspike happens and it cost you a life in TF2. This freezing also happens very often in older games like medal of honor or vietcong. I never had this problem for the first 1/2 year, when I bought this pc.

64 GB DIMMs are out as Load Reduced registered of course, but are not for sale anywhere as far as I know. I don’t even know if a XEON CPU can even use them as the max RAM supported indicates a max of 32 GB per stick. How long before 32 and 64 GB sticks are available for desktops? We are already getting 16 GB sticks for desktops when DDR4 comes out.

I think it’s a bug. The cellphone stays on the “Validating IP” when it connects to wi-fi and it deems the connection invalid after several minutes. It’s a SONY Experia, but I don’t know which version it has of Android.

Well crap. I’m looking into getting a new PC and after reading some things about RAM, I now feel I need ECC or my PC is going to crash from a RAM error. I know ECC is only for servers and everyone else gets by on regular RAM just fine but I’m just the type that after learning that only ONE bit has be wrong (and think of how many BILLIONS go through your RAM every second) I feel it is going to happen one of these days and possibly when I really need it too. Further, it’s keeping me from looking into high performance RAM too because the high heat and higher speeds seem to me like it would almost be begging for an error.
