Motherboard, OS, Power supply, Hard Drive, CD Drive, CPU, RAM, GPU Total cost: $463.38 You can drop the cost down to $450.38 if you use this GPU instead however there will be a noticeable difference in performance but it should still be able to play most games well. This build does not include a case however I’m guessing you already have a case to use, if not you can find a great used case for about $15 if you look on craigslist. The motherboard will fit in all but the smallest of cases. This build, while not the fastest PC ever, is still a decent performer. You should have no trouble with games or with Blender although I admit it will be a little slower than a higher end i5 but the cost of one of those is almost half of the budget. If you want to check how the CPU and GPU compare you can try sites like cpuboss.com, gpuboss.com and cpu-world.com. Here is a link for a comparison for a CPU very close to yours. As you can see it’s not too far off the far pricier CPU’s out there for single thread performance. Let me know what you think and if you would like to make any changes to the build.

I’m guessing it’s a standard LCD/LED full HD display with either 60 or 120Hz refresh in which case should have no trouble at all hooking it up to a modern GPU. The only thing to look out for is the ports, it may only have HDMI for example and the GPU may only have a display port or DVI connector in which case you will need an adapter, The good news is that most TV’s and GPUs have multiple kinds of ports so they should work just fine together, if not the adapters are quite cheap.

As long as it is not plasma you will be fine; plasma suffers from “burn in” which means that if the screen is static for too long like if you leave it on the desktop too long or otherwise don’t change the screen much it will “burn in” to the screen and you will have artifacts of what ever was on the still screen, so if you left it on your desktop for example, you would have faint little desktop icons all the time as well as a faint image of your desktop wallpaper. Really early CRT monitors used to do that too, that’s where the screen saver came from; if you left you monitor static for too long it would automatically switch it off to black or would put an animated image on it to save the screen, hence the name .

I mean is it an LCD, LED or Plasma? Also what is the refresh rate? You don’t need a PC display option I don’t think unless you want special features that allow the PC to talk to the TV. Any modern GPU will work just fine with it but you may need an adapter for the port.

440-460 and it must include everything such as the monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc? If that’s true I can build one BUT it’s going to be extremely low end and not able to much of anything outside of basic things like browsing facebook. If you want something that can work with blender I would say 600 at the very least for a complete system. If you could do without the peripherals 440-460 could but something decent for that kind of use. Let me know either way.

@ThatRandomGuy42
Yes, you can build something very nice for that. You can play all games on high settings easily and do pretty much anything you want. This of course s just for the PC itself, this does not include peripherals.

$400? That’s a pretty tight budget but I think I can help you. Do you have any existing parts that you want to use like a case, a CD drive, an OS and so on? Building an entire system for only 400 is going to be tough if you have to include the case, the OS and the peripherals.

Build commie blocks!
does turning anti-aliasing on or off help performance
also i’m looking to build a pc for about 400$
nothing to fancy just something for gaming and rendering short animations in blender
Depends on the level and type of AA you use. Yes, any AA will cause a performance hit, but some forms are more resource intensive than others

Frogster

@luna the great!
Sorry. I don’t have other suggestions.

You can buy a replacement screen for around 50$ and replace it with a little patience and the right screwdrivers. But at least you can still plug it into a regular VGA monitor.

Default search

If you do not specify a field to search over, the search engine will search for posts with a body that is similar to the query's word stems. For example, posts containing the words winged humanization, wings, and spread wings would all be found by a search for wing, but sewing would not be.
