Unpopular opinion time

Only thing I like about Soarin is his design. Those colors are very pleasing.

The theory that Cozy Glow is Chrysalis has been absolute nonsense since The Mean Six, and it’s especially nonsensical now.
 
Unless they decide to pull that as a twist with no foreshadowing whatsoever, it’s not gonna happen.

The fact that people still stubbornly cling to it baffles me.
 
I literally saw someone on Fimfiction claim that the writers “rewrote the episodes to make Cozy not Chrysalis out of spite for the people who were guessing that”.

Considering how Chrysalis is still shown to be a shitty actress one episode later (specifically around Starlight, who Cozy Glow was perfectly civil to), especially when it was also a fucking leaked episode, that conspiracy theory is nothing but pure, unadulterated delusion.
 
Also, the writers probably couldn’t give two shits less what people were predicting.
 
In fact, I think I accurately guessed a while back that Cozy Glow was meant to prove Neighsay wrong, from a narrative perspective, and I was pretty much right, before the red herring misled me.

Lots of great stories, but… avoid reading 90% of blog posts and comments. ESPECIALLY the Episode discussion site blog posts.

Also 90% of fics are self inserts or someone’s clop fic or other crap that’s honestly not worth reading.

As it turned out, I actually was pretty much spot-on with #4.
 
That one trailer at SDCC misled me, when it showed her and Neighsay, after I said that.

That site is just plain shitty, period. AO3 is also way better than fanfiction.net, especially after they added the “Exclude” feature.

I think knowledge of her role months beforehand ultimately hurt the impact of her reveal  
She was pretty clearly telegraphed as a Villain action figure in her first appearance.

If Cozy did have a backstory, pretty much everyone complaining about her having no backstory would instead be complaining about her having a weak backstory  
…Sort of thing. It baffles me why so many fans don’t seem capable of drawing conclusions that are super obvious from context.

Oh, hell yes. Not to mention looking much nicer. Hence why I’m glad that Knighty eventually plans to create a Genfic extension of Fimfiction for non-pony stories (though he sure is taking his sweet time with that).

I think Dustcan is referring to the leaked synopsis that revealed her role in the finale. Especially since Marks for Effort WASN’T one of the episodes that had been leaked.

Yeah I am referring to the hack spoiling her villainy a year ahead of the time. But I disagree on the other point: the hack hurt the reveal because all her episodes leading up to the finale didn’t portray her as evil or anything in any blatant way. Sure in hindsight (or foresight in this case) we can see the foreshadowing for what it is, but if we didn’t know then things like her just happening to be at the CMC clubhouse of all places when they’re there of all times, her…enthused expression to the Element of Magic, her rejection of the oddly named “Empathy Cocoa”, her friendship plan being “devious”, etc. All these things and more could’ve and I dare say would’ve been written off as coincidence.
 
Shoot even knowing all the above after I saw the convention promo revealing that Neighsay would be involved in the finale and him taking over the school I was skeptical of her being the mastermind. But nope, she really was the main villain.

I remember when some users asserted Neighsay was a “Trump strawman”, and look who ended up getting reformed.

Did people really say that? That’s wrong on so many levels, not least of all considering their positions don’t match. Neighsay isn’t what I’d call a businessman by any stretch of the word.

That was one hay-hole of a flimsy strawman accusation, what with the complete and utter lack of parallels beyond “odious racism”.

Yeah, I really have seen people say that, one of whom has a username that starts with the letters “Es” and ends with the letters “ban”, and it’s one word. They’re currently banned, I think.
