Sunburst showed up way too early. Literally the episode after Starlight is reformed.

They should have devolped Starlight a bit more first and when she did meet Sunburst milk the drama of meeting the pony that meant so much to her. On the same level of drama as the Moondancer episode or more.

And not have to share the spotlight with Flurry Heart.

Her saccharine behavior was for a reason, it was a mask and a front to hide under so others didn’t suspect a thing. Either way, I agree I was never a big fan of her anyway.

Characters who’s main gimmick is to pretend to be cute are downright insufferable to me.

I’m sorry for you, even though I feel the exact opposite way.

I actually kind of wish Rainbow and Rarity were closer friends more instead of Rarity and Fluttershy.

Fluttershy and Rarity are only similar because they’re stereotypically the girly ones.

But I think Rainbow and Rarity both have more in common in that they like attention and want a good reputation. So thus fashion would be something they’d discuss a lot. I think Ink Rose had a headcanon like that.

I think it would be interesting if the tomboy like Rainbow was actually obsessed with fashion even if she’d hate other girly things like flowers or tea parties.

I think they’d have a good practical relationship where Rarity has to advise Rainbow how to present herself.

I’m not gonna lie, I really think Rarity and Rainbow could be a potentially interesting duo in many situations.

It helps both are nonehteless passionate and proactive albeit with opposite methods and philosophies. Kind of a compliment of skillsets and attitudes.

I for one, in a dark comedy about the MLP protagonists being mafia, I imagined both Rainbow and Rarity, having the proactivity just below Twilight’s level (well, maybe Pinkie has a bit more proactivity, but she’s not leadership material), I imagined both as the caporegimes of the dysfunctional mafia.

Rarity Investigates pretty much portrayed them perfectly but that’s it.

MYM and TYT in general didn’t handle Pipp well in terms of being a musical character, usually musical characters fall apart more when the non-musical show.

but Pipp is a musical character in a musical cartoon, this type of character has to have something special in their songs that makes them stand out, for example Marceline from Adventure Time she has a unique style of song and most of her compositions are almost always well thought out and have impact, but Pipp doesn’t have that.

She’s a pop singer but 95% of G5’s songs are pop, and even though she sings well it’s not like her songs have any weight, like for example Mane Family, Pipp’s songs are just one song among many.

ideally Pipp should have had a different style than pop, for example being a techno singer, or better yet, G5 would have had more variety of musical genres

G5’s only variety is a male main character that almost isn’t always a punching bag or never a slave.

I saw a lot of variety with the plots in TYT discounting three baby episodes and “too many Boardtrot episodes”…and all of those episodes each had their own unique plot.

From what ive seen they kind of focused a little more on the manestyling and the social media aspect.

I guess you could argue writing about the songwriting might be trickier than writing about how you present your singing in this case thru social media.

Her song, Magic in Us, literally saved Equestria.

Because Pipp is not just a musical character, she is a performer. In the era of the internet, you have to learn multiple skills to have and maintain your audience. You have to be your own PR team, social media manager, as well as regularly create content that pleases the algorithm, etc. She was most likely meant to be a positive role model to the target audience, most of them kids who regularly watch streamers the way we watched cartoons back in the day.
But I do agree that most of that didn’t seem to go anywhere since MYM wasn’t renewed for a second season, and TYT was cancelled.

Yes, she was very much meant to be more than just “song pony”. The most recent leaked TYT animatic shows that Pipp was going to have character development in an episode where she touches grass.

I didn’t get It

wasn’t in fact a Pipp song, like best day ever for exemple, it was a genki dama song that all the characters sang together that her composed(officially Pipp solo version os a remix, the song wasn’t for her), and it’s mainly a question of how her songs are not unique compared to the rest of the G5 songs, like for example Starshine Time, that song has a whole different composition and energy perfect for introducing a new group of ponies of another land.

I know she is more than a musical character ( like Marceline is more than a musical character), but the part of her being a musical character was not well developed compared to her as a streamer.

I wasn’t a fan of G5’s music, all of it sounded the same to me, I think it was one of the weaker aspects of this incarnation as a whole but I am of the belief that if it continued on, it would’ve explored other types of music for the sake of variety.

I always felt there were too many Pipp songs and they should let the other characters sing more instead of automatically going to her. Even in group songs, Pipp usually has more lines than the other characters.

Hitch songs are peak. Hitch is the only good thing to come out of G5.

For me, Pipp’s VA is the goated singer of mlp. She creates such great vibes it is a joy to listen to her. I’m not a big fan of pop music, but a lot of pony songs in g5 became my favorites. The songs are in the same style but they have very different tones. For example, Feel the Magic is about the magic of friendship and unity and its tone is cheerful, while Let Your Magic Run Wild encourges ponies to embrace their unique talents and to express themselves with more enthusiastic tone.

Totally agree, I love AJ Bridel and songs from any genre of music can have a unique flair to them.

If the series did go on and didn’t get cancelled, I would’ve loved it if they explored more music genres and changed things up with the songs

I think what might keep them from being so close is one of their similarities - they both love to be the center of attention. And they have very different styles of doing so.

CMC episodes were useless after Diamond Tiara redemption but the final one was great.
