People have been predicting the toypocalypse since the 80s. It’s not happening. Toys are always going to make a comeback.

Kids may love smartphones, but smartphones are rapidly pricing themselves beyond the limit where I’d be comfortable letting a kid anywhere near one.

It’s because there was a massive void lacking recent pony content, then suddenly this Tamers dude comes along and produces an hour long fanwork.

In some ways it’s revived the fandom and inspired people to make new content.

I quite enjoy it, love how it goes from shitpost edginess to proper decent in a matter of seconds. AJ’s crappy CG voice is hilarious too.

The stranger part about Flawless Sparklemoon is that she’s a post-S4 thing that became really popular without a shitload of official screentime. Though given she’s literally a fusion of two S1 characters it’s probably not that surprising. With the latest set of background characters posted in the thread two weeks ago, it was only in the last 12 hours that someone other than me suggested a name for a pony other than the two cosplaying Celestia and Luna, such is our obsession with older content over newer.

Then again, me liking something seems to kill its popularity like birds in a mushroom cloud. I saw Koleda Belobog before she was named; right now she’s the least popular female character in the entire Hoyoverse.

Ill be blunt this Flawlwss Sparklemoon sounds like an edgelord. I dont know if this animation is my style.

I’m deliberately waiting for a couple of weeks before watching. I’d rather avoid hype of any kind before watching myself.

That’s part of the appeal I imagine; She’s an edgy “baby’s first Twixie offspring” in a work that’s made to call back to early brony fandom content. I think the videos are neat, but as someone who hasn’t really been apart from pony content since starting it and has enjoyed a lot of the pony material in the meantime, the nostalgia part is kind of wasted on me.

I don’t really care about Flawless.

Honestly, ClownfishTV, while I wouldn’t trust them, does have their videos be a 50-50 (50% they’re wrong & another 50% they’re right).
So, it’s a mixed bag. 🤷

I was sad at that time and figured a lot of those people would prefer I zipp it. But then, I came to realise, it’s quite boring if I did. And also because this community’s too full of negativity because it’s mlp, a happy franchise, and like science it inevitably attracts those people. So I underwent those changes and embrace that I will uphold the positive because I want to break the vicious cycle. Well, it clearly doesn’t work but I will at least stall it from going to end to begin the cycle anew. Also here’s a challenge, prove me wrong that people won’t give in to said cycle. They can’t. For now as I’m replying to you. You passed, for now.

In fairness, I wouldn’t have too. So you can imagine my disappointment when they started to stray away into becoming an outright hard reboot when we found out they don’t own the show’s entire premise anymore. And while I still bothered nonetheless with consuming it because the second best thing is to explore this new world. We also didn’t get that, they’re stuck in the same old place because it was flat. (That’s a joke BTW.)

Over the years I stopped using many common fandom headcanons, but I noted the ones involving Pinkie take the cake. Many of them were either product of their time or for some reason they felt rather skin-deep the more I watch them, plus, very often those headcanons often felt limiting over the years.

Pinkie apparently being a huge fourth wall breaker (she’s neither the only one who breaks it nor it’s really that prominent about it), the Pinkamena thing (the original fic was a troll fic and honestly I’m jaded from it), her being a chaos being or something (if anything IDW and the final confirms the chaos power from Discord is something that overwhelms her and she cannot really control it all that well, she might be hyperactive but otherwise just pony).

I mostly peg she’s mostly a shapeshifter with hammerspace, specially because she doesn’t have a good record actually beating villains and also an inconsistent record solving practical problems. The fact many characters can also break the 4th wall and use toon physics makes me think she merely overuses it, more akin to low social skills rather than anything intrinsict.

Spike gives many side glances, Twilight also shares the iris out joke of Pinkie at the end of Magic Duel, Discord made that popcorn comment, and technically speaking the subtle “interface screw” also counts like Spike interrupting Twilight’s imaginative spot or Sci-Twi and Rainbow Dash pushing some sort of transition while waiting for the class to end.
