Exactly. I mean, people with autism brought us nuclear science, synthpunk, a wide array of great movies, the theory of relativity, and the Declaration of Independence. People who use “autism” as an insult brought us yet another term that ED uses endlessly until it loses all meaning.

Some of them have publicly stated that they have it, like Daryl Hannah and Gary Numan. With others, it’s just speculated, but in cases like those of Stanley Kubrick and Albert Einstein, most people believe that they were definitely on the spectrum.

What exactly constitutes as “autistic”? I’ve been hearing the term thrown around endlessly everywhere.

It’s a disorder where you’re brain isn’t wired right and can cause mundane activities become a daunting ordeal. but can also lead to extraordinary memory like the blind man that remembers every piano song. The notable signs is extreme anger when something isn’t right as many with autism like to live by schedule and have places for everything. Tumblr and some SJWs use it as a way to be hip and have a “get out of being an asshole” free cards.
 
I’m not very knowledgeable about Autism, I’m only going on my past experiences.

Among some of the symptoms for autism can include a noticeable speech impediment, delayed motor development (can cause an inability to do anything in sports), inability to pick up on social cues (sarcasm vs. seriousness, body language, etc.), precise attention to detail, higher performance in math, disliking changes in routines, perceived lack of empathy, advanced style of speaking for his/her age, avoiding eye contact, strange facial expressions or postures, and hypersensitivity to loud noises or bright lights.
 
Some of these can change over time, and there are other symptoms, but these are the ones I know.

Ugh, not just ED, but everywhere. Hell, I usually frequent on reddit and I follow the Filthy Frank reddit, and 50% of the time, they constantly use Autism as a fricken insulting term, as well as “cancer”.
 
I did find it amusing some user posted the picture of Pinkie as Pink Guy from here and whined about “another f—– is ruining our fandom” and half of the comments were full of “bronies are such cancer/autism”.

I’m autistic myself (and cancer is Greek for crab), at this rate we’ll have to change the name of the disease, because it’s too late to spread awareness. I think Australia also plans to drop the positive meanings of ‘pig’ and ‘ice’ as well.

well this is just amusing because according to Jerry Peet playing violent video games can apparently make you more of a jerk. An I really wish people would be more specific when they ask about violent video games because I am just saying even the Mario games have some violence in them
