Honestly, I never even liked Molestia to begin with; I found it creepy, unpleasant, and mean-spirited. But I feel that people on both sides of the DWM thing took things a little too far.

Attacking, slandering, making false rape claims and destroying someone’s hard work, destroy someone’s artistic freedom, ruining for everyone out there just because someone’s feelings got hurt by a fictional blog?  
I totally see nothing wrong with that. And I totally don’t see how their actions wouldn’t have provoked such a backlash. They kicked the hornet’s nest, they got stun.
 
It wouldn’t be a problem had they not made it into a problem. They are the reason why people can’t have nice things.

Same mate. I was more indifferent with it and was rather more impressed that a tumblr based on a fucking meme lasted this long before given the middle finger because some crazy femninazi accused it of “making fun of rape”.
 
I actually once put my thoughts on tumblr saying I didn’t approve of both sides’s immaturity, with the fanbase telling April to get raped while April prancing around that “she won”.
 
I had two of April’s followers come to my account and prance about how “April did good” and that “It was my fault for supporting something like Molestia”.
 
…When I had put in fricken bold text that I couldn’t give two shats over the tumblr to begin with.

EQD for me is both a good website for fan work/news and a bad site due to their picky attitude. Also they’re basically the idiotic cesspool that started the more annoying fanbase jokes, like the “AJ is a background pony” and I think also the “Scootachicken” joke.

All I know is that EQD started the Applejack’s a background pony joke. They don’t seem to like AJ that much.
 
They ended up sparking some drama on one of their editorials on fan pandering, with a screen shot from Meghan’s twitter when she made a joke, saying “This joke is more dead than Applejack’s parents!”

Right, and that TOTALLY justifies death threats or even rape threats, which, by the way, both sides were guilty of. I saw just as many people sending those kinds of things to Pinkiepony as I saw ones directed at Joseco or Calpain.
 
And then there’s the matter that Joseco said after it got shut down that he had been planning on ending it soon ANYWAY, but no, people just had to make a martyrdom out of it.
 
And before you try to put words in my mouth, I am NOT defending Pinkiepony. She’s a horrible person. That does NOT make death threats or rape threats okay.

Even some people called them out on it, but some users were all “YA SHOULDN’T GET OFFENDED OVER A JOKE TO A CHARACTER THAT ISN’T REAL!”, despite that this is a fanbase, we treat the characters as if they are real anyway. At least some do.
 
I’m neutral with EQD, I just use it for news and the drawfriend stuff.

Okay, we’ll get back to the topic, anyway.

It doesn’t justify the death threats. Neither does Molly justify their shit. But the point is, they started it, they are stupid, and were not able to be reasoned with. They sabotaged a charity, tried to get someone falsely deported, and even tried to scam people.  
I agree it wouldn’t have devolved into a shitstorm had people just simply ignored PP.  
JJ wasn’t the only one they went after, several other Pony blogs were targeted and report abused off tumblr by them. What have those artists done to them?
 
The problem was more than just their problem with a lewd blog. It was our right to existence as a fandom.

Yeah, I agree with you there, though this is the first I’ve heard off other artists being forced off of Tumblr because of them.

We didn’t really know how to deal with SJWs back then. So our tactics were a bit crude.  
To them, criticism no matter how constructive it is, is somehow “harassment”.

Even LeekFish later admitted that DWM went too far. In fact LeekFish seems to have greatly mellowed out since then.
