So, Trump has expressed an intention to end birthright citizenship in the United States. However, for this change to take effect, the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution would have to be amended.

This is his one of his many steps of how to be a dictator here because it is part of the U.S. Constitution.

The process of getting rid of it, requires approval from Congress, making it highly unlikely for Trump to successfully revoke birthright citizenship.

Nevertheless, he may potentially issue false executive orders that seek to limit the implementation of the 14th Amendment, potentially appeasing to his cult MAGA loyalists.

Yeah and therein lies the stink.

A change to the Constitution or its amendments require a Congressional supermajority to vote for it, then requires either 4/5ths or 100% of the states to ratify it. Well he ain’t gonna get any of those.

But an executive order? That can only be shot down by judges. It won’t be hard to find even mid-level conservative judges who think this is the bull it is, but then Trump’s regime can in theory challenge and appeal it all the way up to the SCOTUS.

At that point it’s a question of whether Trump does it before Thomas and Alito retires, or does he wait until he has appointed 5 toadies to the SCOTUS?

Despite all insistence by liberals to the contrary, it turns out that the President is actually really powerful.

The images of Sednaya prison are disturbing, it must be one of the worst torture centers in the world.

In my country there is La Tumba y El Helicoide, the largest torture center in America, and although grotesque images have come from there, they are nothing compared to the Syrian regime.

Often it starts out as a noble “It’s just speech”, “People have a right to say whatever and a right to ignore it”, “I don’t have the right to limit what other people say”, “The community will moderate itself, most people are good and that will drown out the bad”.

Doesn’t work.

Extreme lack of moderation attracts “extremists”; extremists attract more of their kind because they have limited places to go to, and their extremes push out “normies”. Keeps happening.
