Don't blame me, I voted for the other guy. (Politics General)

Background Pony #8139
I’m so fucking tired of Democrats not investing in Texas, not doing anything about voter suppression in Texas, and then blaming Texans for not voting hard enough to get rid of their politicians.
Background Pony #D4C8
Psst.
Protip: If you want to convince people that the crybullies who use any power they can grab to force their ideology onto others against their will are a handful of fringe individuals and not representative of the movement as a whole, maybe immediately silencing the first person to express dissent isn’t the best way to go about that?

This is the same Anon, just sayin’.
Doesn’t surprise me at all to see them whine about censorship whenever their bullshit gets clamped down upon (and missing their mark by complaining about the wrong person, to boot).

Sadly Republicans have reached a takeover of most critical decision making in Texas, all funds invested in the state yield incredibly diminished returns since most of the legislation can just brazenly tell Democrats to fuck off. Ken Paxton belongs in jail, but the Texan justice system is captured by fascists so that won’t happen. Laws mean jack shit when those supposed to enforce them are going all-in on abandoning democracy.
If Republicans lose Texas, their chances of winning the presidency drop to under 1%, of course the place has been rigged as to never ever give Democrats a chance.

Well after actually posting a poll, Elon has reinstated Alex Jones on Twitter. There goes even more ad revenue (though he recently said he could give a rats ass about the losses).

He apparently also made an AI with Twitter data called Grok, but it turned out woke. (So much for doing better than with his real children, huh?)

This one will make Elon froth at the mouth

Bonus:
They blatantly trained their model on how to chat by using ChatGPT responses, which is what many of the llama/alpaca models did almost a year ago (and against OpenAI’s TOS). I wouldn’t be surprised if Grok is just a random llama model, or StabilityAI’s text model, and no real work was done by Elon’s minions.

While no one poll should be taken at face value and it’s still 11 months before the election, a Wall Street Journal poll now finds Trump leading Biden by four points, right on the cusp of the margin of error.
Still remember how suggestions that Biden not seek reelection were shot down by Dem hardliners on the grounds that “only Biden can beat Trump.”

i suppose on the topic of polls, this one by the Washington post is interesting for a couple of reasons. To somewhat summarize, fewer young Americans plan to vote in 2024 but (according to the poll at least) shows the decline is largely independents and republicans (with the overall of democratic young people still being around 66 percent same as 4 years ago even while independants and republicans both got a 10 percent decrease, with the overall young people definatly voting overall going form 57 to 49 percent). Granted, theres more young people identify as independant (38 percent) then democrat (35 percent) or republican (28 percent), with the poll overall saying biden would win a head-to-head matchup by 24 points (shrinking to 4 if we include third parties like no labels or Robert F. Kennedy jr.).
Note this poll is 4 days before the above wall street journal poll (releasing on the 5th as opposed to the Wall Street Journal 9th). Not sure what I am rambling on about at this point, but the fact that both of these polls came out in the same week and had almost exactly opposite findings as far as Biden or trump winning is funny to me. The Harvard one was conducted with 2,098 us residents with a margin of 2.9 percent, but I can’t get numbers for the wall street journal.

Apologies if this was already covered, but a while back one of Putin’s state media talking heads proclaimed that the Russian Empire is expanding, and that Russia could reconquer the Baltic states in “15 minutes.”
Not only would that be attacking NATO, but I think they don’t realize just how armed and drilled Baltic civilians are. A friend of mine who interacts with a lot of Eastern Europeans told me a Latvian friend told him (without sharing classified info) how they have a detailed strategy for turning their entire city and surroundings into a hardpoint against a Russian invasion.

Ron DeSantis’ presidential bid is still struggling as ever. So what does he do? He brings in his wife to beg for votes, and she does so…by suggesting voter fraud.
“We’re asking all of these moms and grandmoms to come from wherever it might be, North Carolina, South Carolina and to descend upon the state of Iowa to be a part of the caucus,” she said, citing a Mamas for DeSantis coalition of 1.1 million mothers and grandmothers she said was influential in Florida during his 2022 re-election.
“You do not have to be a resident of Iowa to be able to participate in the caucus. So moms and grandmas are going to be able to come and be a part and let their voice be heard and support Ron.”
Unfortunately for Ron DeSantis, who has made clamping down on perceived election fraud a central plank of his second term in the Florida governor’s mansion, they cannot. Iowa law, as the state’s Republican party was forced to point out in a tweet, restricts caucus voting to legal residents of the state with photo ID, and Iowa students living out of state who can choose where they register.
Michael McDonald, an elections specialist and professor of political science at the University of Florida, was among those pointing out that non-Iowans who tried to do so would be breaking the law.
“Just Casey DeSantis encouraging people to cross a border and vote illegally in Iowa,” he wrote in a tweet.

Machine learning by design is incestuous, it’s doomed to eventually steal “borrow” text that was already poached by another bot and reinforce it’s own algorithm towards the same outcome. Even if one was made with certain precepts (like the baseline “I cannot help users make malware”) to spread rightwing talking points, it would eventually end up making shit up, then quoting the shit it made up, which is easy to figure out if you have any basics in critical thinking….
So yeah, propagandabots are likely on their way.
