I’m certain people on the far left will say you’re wrong there and that they support liberty as well. Though the point of divergence is that the left wants liberation from largely abstract or non-human entities such as disease, poverty, being offended, etc. and sometimes they also advocate for liberation from human entities as well, such as from landlords or employers. Noble on paper, for certain, however, often these goals are pursued through empowering large, centralized entities that pay their side enough vocal support, regardless of their actual internal or even external practices. As well as mandating things that go against the cultural traditions, needs and/or liberties of other demographics. It’s well meaning but also deeply flawed, as much if not more so than pure liberty/capitalism.
tl;dr terms are getting changed around and rendered meaningless so often and so hard that actually having an intellectual debate between the two extremes, at least, is impossible.
