Don’t underestimate the appeal of those features in this day and age. Part of why the PS2 and PS3 sold like hotcakes is because they were relatively cheap DVD and Blu-Ray players, respectively. If Nintendo wants the Switch to sell strictly as a games machine, it better have some damn good software backing it up.

Yeah, it’s not that I feel a game system needs non-gaming features like video streaming, but they are a plus. I may be overreacting, but I think gamers spoiled by other modern consoles with video & internet features are going to be a bit turned off the Switch being video game only. Some are already angry it’s going to get rid of Miiverse.
 
I love Nintendo, but they do some things I find odd. Like making it so their official websites don’t work on the WiiU & 3DS internet browsers…

I have made it through the Face Shrine… I am officially farther into the game than I ever have been before…
 
16 years, man… I first played the game when I was 9 years old in 2001. But I couldn’t even figure out where the Tail Cave even was… I was a dumb kid back then.
 
But man… after 16 years, I may finally be able to beat this childhood classic of mine… It’s an odd feeling.

Yeah, I personally believe that web surfing and movie viewing on a video game console is a bit overrated. Because why do it on your console when you can just do it on one of your other devices that you probably have? I mean for me, I have a laptop and an iPad that I can use for streaming videos and surfing the web.
 
No Miiverse was a little concerning to me, but I’ll see what they have to make up for it.

I actually agree, but regardless they do come in handy for those who don’t have such devices. (I don’t have a tablet, or smartphone, and my computer is busted, so if WiiU had no browser, I wouldn’t be here now.)

That’s true, but I’m pretty sure a majority of gamers also have at least one of those other devices.

Made it to Eagle’s Tower in Link’s Awakening.

I did it.
 
16 years after I first played it, I finally beat Link’s Awakening. With no deaths.
 
I mean, I cheesed it a bit by using restore points every now and then when I was about to die, but it still counts.

Another reason I’m kinda turned off the Switch is because of how expensive the controller accessories are, and such. That might hurt the system to.

It’s funny; it’s taken me 16 years, but the moment I seriously resolve to finish it I beat the whole thing in 4 days. XD

Not to brag, but when I first got “Link’s Awakening” it took me only 6 months to beat… Including having to restart my save file from scratch, ‘cause I wasted that one key in the hard-to-get-to place you weren’t supposed to use it in Catfish’s Maw.
 
They fixed that problem in the GBColor DX version though, by adding an extra key to the dungeon, I hear.

I also used a guide for a large chunk of the playthrough. In fact for the last two dungeons, I sat here in front of my computer and followed the guide’s instructions EXACTLY, which allowed me to skip a few sections of Eagle’s Tower and Turtle Rock.

I did most of the game without a guide. I think they’re more fun that way.
 
I ruined “Super Mario 64” as a kid by using a Player’s Guide book to get every star.

I have no shame in using guides.

Also I totally cheesed the Nightmare’s last form by tossing the Boomerang the moment it opened its eye. I will never get over how ridiculously overpowered it is in Link’s Awakening.
 
But don’t you find it a bit strange that the Nightmare’s first five forms have a unique battle theme, but DethI uses the game’s mini-boss theme?

Yeah, well they kinda ruin all the fun, and secrets to find for me. Granted I needed one to find levels 5 & 7 in Zelda 1, and such, but I try to beat most of the games myself.

The arrows also work too. And the boomerang was oddly powerful in Link’s Awakening. Might be why it’s one of the last items you can get.

Yeah, I’ll be honest, I’m also a bit pissed at how expensive the controllers are.

I used to think the Wii-motes ($50) were too much, (though I managed to get an official one for only $30 before) but these controller pieces are ridiculously priced, I hate to say it. No controller should cost more then a game disc.

Never got why Wizzrobes are immune to the sword in Link’s Awakening. It always seemed kind of odd. They also can’t be killed by the Boomerang unlike most other enemies in the game.

I liked the Wizzrobe designs in Windwaker.

Additionally, in Link’s Awakening, Wizzrobes stay in one spot and simply disappear and reappear in that spot rather than teleporting randomly around the room.
 
And yeah, the Wind Waker Wizzrobes were really cool designs, especially the mini-boss version.

They should’ve called that one an “Elite Wizzrobe” or something. I like the creepy sounds they made too.
 
Blue Wizzrobe in the original NES Zelda still get on my nerves, their movement patterns are very hard to predict.

Y’know, it’s funny… I downloaded the SNES version of Link to the Past a couple weeks ago on the Wii U Virtual Console (being eligible for an upgrade from the Wii Virtual Console)… because I had actually forgotten that I still had a copy of the GBA version. I had gotten the GBA version because I thought it would be slightly easier with being able to start from wherever I was when I had last saved upon loading up the game (as well as being able to “save and continue”). …I was wrong. But I just started over on the GBA version last night, and hopefully I’ll finally be able to beat this one too (I’ll probably be using a guide for most of it again though).

When’s the earliest you can get the Magic Cape item in ALttP? I know it’s optional, but I want to get all the items, including the optional ones.
 
Also, DAMN, only started yesterday and I got through all 3 of the Light World dungeons today in the GBA version. …And I have died a LOT. Seriously, I died like 5 times in the Tower of Hera Mountain Tower (no clue why they changed the name in the GBA version) alone. Surprisingly, I managed to beat Moldorm without falling down the holes even once.
 
Also, I distinctly remember there being a cave SOMWHERE in the game where there were a bunch of Mini-Moldorms and at the end of the small cave you could find a chest with 300 Rupees. Can’t remember where it is though…
