General Dark Souls

I think I might have found a bug/issue of sorts in DS2, or at least the steam version.
Using a shield with the right mouse button is fine, but when I lower the shield to use my sword, which is bound to my left mouse button, for some reason the game uses a shield bash. I’ve noticed it happen several full seconds after the shield is lowered, and have been struggling with it for a while, now.
Everything else works fine, the somewhat odd controls aside.

I hate that the black knights don’t respawn, making farming them too RNG reliant.

You think that’s bad? In the SotFS version of Dark Souls II, enemies don’t respawn after you kill them ten times, regardless of whether or not they respawn normally. Only way to bring them back is with a Bonfire Ascetic or the Champions Covenant, making them harder.

Gameplay changes to this edition, there indeed are. However, I will say that even with some new enemies and items in different locations, this game has been FAR EASIER to get through up to the Cathedral of Blue my second time playing.

And those are the endgame, right before the final boss. That’s a problem from someone like me wanting to use them for a build.

Trying to get the flamberge in undead settlement in DS3.
Apparently it’s only a 5% drop rate, so this should be fun.

At least it’s closed to a bonfire. I hate low drops in this franchise.

The first playthrough took me a little under three hours to get to said bonfire.
Now it takes about forty minutes, so… progress?

Progress is progress. It also requires a drop to get to, so its easy to miss the first time through.

I’ve got the Exile Greatsword, but it requires 24 Str and 16 Dex, so I might work toward that, instead.

I think the curved ones are more dex-focused, but it is a greatsword.

I need to go back to Dark Souls 3.

I may try to learn how to back up my save so I can “farm” the black knight with a great sword near the drake bonfire.

And I got it after a few tries. I’ll gladly take that.

Cant wait for Elden ring and all the brave sacrifices all keyboards/controllers will endure o7

I’m assuming it’s going to be rather more difficult?

At the very least Bloodbone/Sekiro levels of difficult

But everyone has a first, and this will be it for many

So I just learnt that throwing an undead hunter charm at a mimic will essentially disable it, allowing you to pick up whatever item it’s holding.

Also I managed to finally get a flamberge, and was surprised that it’s a 15/14 Str/Dex requirement, which is lower than I was expecting.

It does wear off, but you can use it to attack the mimic once without it aggroing and to farm it’s hat.

I’m unsure as to where to go next, out of the cathedral or the catacombs, especially considering the length from the bonfire where you find Gael to the next one.

DS3 is full of shortcuts, so the two in the cathedral are closer than you think.
