I have to admit, though, the gay scene in the game make playing the thing almost worth it. I don’t know why it’s as funny as it is; I think it’s just the awkwardness of the suggestive song playing while Parappa passionately kisses his best friend unabashed.

The writers/programmers of the game had to know what they were doing. And that either makes it better, or worse. I mean, he had a pretty clear love interest, which makes the act even more confusing.

Just…Parappa the Rapper 2 in general was a trip.

Unpopular opinion:
The whole, “hero sacrifices themselves” trope is way too fucking overdone and it’s time for people to retire the trope cause it’s like counting the number of redshirt deaths in star trek.

Yeah, but that’s because it’s Star Trek.

Incidentally:
“While Star Trek has the dubious honor of being the Trope Namer, the Trope is actually very inaccurate if you compare the franchise to Real Life. If you were to watch every episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, count the number of casualties that the Enterprise had (including those who didn’t wear red, which as stated below, happened much more often than many might believe), and then compare that to an actual military unit, you’d see that Kirk’s record as a leader in this regard is excellent, far better than any general in U.S. history. (And he is almost always enraged when it happens.) Even war heroes like George Washington and Dwight Eisenhower had proportionately more casualties among their troops. But apparently in the “Star Trek T.O.S.,” there were more in gold than red who were killed off. But the notorious “Redshirt Deaths” were really mostly the security officers who would die—as all henchmen in just about any genre tend to—just for effect.”

Correction:
During the three years of the original series 13.7% of his crew died; 73% of which was redshirts so yeah the trope does have a basis.
