Lead Mane: Of course, you don’t trust us. We don’t expect you to. We don’t really trust you either. But we have a common enemy, and all the reason to want the two gone for good. We are cursed, outcasts, and we desire our freedom above all else. Freedom from our tormentors, those who dared use us as pawns. They have outlived their usefulness, and Hope likely has plans to dispose of you. Hope claimed to be able to send us to the afterlife, but he has yet to do so. So, we don’t need to trust each other. Trust is against our nature. But, all we need to do is fight together long enough to destroy our tormentors, and then we’ll return to our world, never to interfere with you again. So, what do you say? I’m sure you can see that we both benefit. The two of them would be hopelessly overpowered by our combined might.

Guard: We have no intention of doing anything so hastily. They are talking things out carefully, so a “rash” decision is out of the question. Whatever the result of this meeting, the pros and cons shall be weighed carefully, and the best choice for both of us will be made after careful contemplation. The Guard nods, then swallows the energy from her breath weapon, wincing from the backblast of the canceled attack sending smoke from her nostrils.
Mane leader: Now, good sir, we aren’t about to come to blows. After all, we joined your cause with promises of redemption. Why would we ever betray such a promise? Absolution: all our crimes that we refused to be purged of, removed, and a free ticket to Elysium, the afterlife of our realm! What would we possibly have to gain from throwing it away? We’d never come to blows with our other selves if we can prevent it. I can promise you that. This meeting is under control, I can assure you.

Lead Mane: Well, yes. There are those who doubt. If we were really getting the absolution we want to end our torment, we’d have gotten it by now, correct? But, it seems Faith has no intention of keeping his end of the bargain, either because he can’t, or he won’t. Liars like him must be made examples of. And tormentors like Hope, who imprisoned our other selves for so long, should be made examples of, as well. After all, Faith did the same to us. He just promised to make everything right in exchange for our allegiance. But, since you overheard our true plans…
