that was a much more aggressive post than i intended it to be. you guys just gotta understand that you can’t prolong a conversation, that is take part in it and give your opinions on it and give others every reason in the world to want to reply, and then turn around and bad-mouth them for wanting to reply and continue the conversation. honestly these starlight debates would probably end within an hour or two if all these people who claimed to not want anything to do with them would, you know, not have anything to do with them.
 
not to mention, some people love to use that tactic to silence the half of the discussion that doesn’t agree with them in order to “win” the debate, so i gotta come down on it like a crumbling wall when i see it.

 

 
I wonder if this jerk will end the series with two cameos two seasons apart (S6, then S8) of him looking miserable?

Even to this day three years later (I think), I’m still conflicted on the episode “Buckball Season”. I don’t know who I should root for: Applejack and Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie. The conflict is so confusingly written that I can’t choose a side.

Capper has a good personality, but I hate anthro cat idea. I was fine with normal cats, as Opal or the Golden Delicious ones.

Well, there’s Winona and the Diamond Dogs issue as well, but my point is, I would have liked an episode about dogs and cats with Twilight in the middle trying to get them to not kill each other on sight.
 
Or a bisons and yaks episode.

Sure, but I just expect to see a little fairness. Some dude is a bit strict in his job and he’s treated as a the scum of the earth. A mom verbally abuses her kid and people beg to bone her. Something doesn’t add up there.

you’re not wrong. just, this is a show where standing up to bullies and expecting services you are morally and legally entitled to have through written contract makes you worse than the devil, but committing a nazi-esque mass execution or causing more suffering and collateral damage than every other villain combined makes you the sympathetic lovable protagonist. “fairness” is not the currency of the realm, so to speak.

The bisons could make the yaks much more interesting, especially if the episode starts with both tribes disliking each other and ends with a giant monster trying to attack a common friend, where both tribes stop arguing, then mega stampedesmash it away and finally become friends over their newfound respect for each other.

I think it would’ve been fine if Svengallop had one cameo of him looking down, but two of them with a period of time passed on the order of two seasons puts you dangerously close to feeling some level of pity, if they haven’t been shown being a jerk in a while.
 
Spoiled Rich though? She’s been more than a bit short on the comeuppance front…

I mean people feel pity for Chrysalis and Cozy Glow and Sombra. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to feel pity for him.

Of course you can feel pity, I think I do, on some level. Part of me hopes he engages in self-reflection at some point.
 
I think what I meant about “dangerously close” was kind of “addressed” to whoever decided to put him in the background, the second time, not that they’d be reading this.

I’m confused about why people feel pity for Svengallop, or Spoiled Rich, or Tirek, or Cozy.
 
Chrysalis might be a little more sympathetic given her decreased sanity, but even then it was her fault, so she still deserves it.

Frankly I just never thought he was that bad to begin with, and The Mane Attraction just being an awful episode that I’ve berated numerous times.

Yeah I guess you’re right, but imagine what he would’ve brought to the legion of doom. I would give my Trixie plushie away just to see what his role would’ve been in “Frenemies”.

What I mean by that is Coloratura hasn’t been seen or mentioned since, so maybe he actually was a good manager, and they actually need each other, in the end?
 
…that might be an interesting idea, if character development was involved.
