Like the thing is that the writers seemed to have take a lot of what people said should have happened to Starlight and then tried to package it all up into Cozy and to a lesser extent the same could be said about the whole of the season 8 finale trying to do this to the season 6 finale. But ok so here’s some of the more usual criticisms of Starlight that seems to have played out in Cozy
 
Starlight should have been a filly: And low and behold Cozy is said filly. This one is usually to try to say that Starlight’s overreactions and misgivings would have been more acceptable or believable if she were a filly over a grown mare.
 
Starlight best villainy was when she was a manipulator: Usually a critic that is basically saying Starlight’s mode of operation in The Cutie Map was much better than in Re-mark where she’s just OP. Here with Cozy she’s a master manipulator, able to pull a Mark Anthony on Neighsay, convince the school to follow her and lure the Mane 6 into a trap, and all without pulling a magic mcguffin out of her plot and keep it as her main threat she can use.
 
Starlight isn’t really good and is going to be revealed to be secretly evil still/she’ll betray everyone’s trust: So I know you dislike this one in particular, but then you know this one, that Starlight didn’t really get reformed and is just buying her time to strike back. And now look at what they did with Cozy, she infiltrates the school, get’s everyone’s trust and then betrays them.
 
They shouldn’t have redeemed Starlight/Too many redemption: So more a general one, but when Starlight first was redeemed in Remark, a lot were saying she should have been punished for what she did. Now here with Cozy she’s not redeemed.  
Starlight should have been sent to hell: Following up on the last one, but what some were saying when the cast all just instant forgave Starlight, that she should have been locked up in Tartarus for her crimes against the space time continuum, and now Cozy just gets sent there.
 
No more OP unicorn villains!: So more of a broad one, but one kind of started more so by Starlight but probably the vagueous one but still a common complain is that it’s almost always a unicorn or super magically power villain, that at best Earth ponies and pegasus are minor antagonists. Well here the major threat is a Pegasus instead of a super magical being, and the reason I bet she’s a pegasus is so she can project better given that she can be at any height.

Yeah but you gotta admit that would have been cool. That could have been part 1 and the stuff with Starlight could have been part 2 :D

If your complaint for one applies to the other, but you only raise a stink for the first one, it is inconsistent.

Inconsistent, but fully justified and certainly not hypocritical. No two characters or shows are created equal no matter how similar they are. I love harsh cynical black humor in Rick and Morty or Robot Chicken but wouldn’t like it in a show like MLP that’s so optimistic and good natured, the same way I’d love an overly positive story that praises the inherent good of others in MLP but would find it boring in Robot Chicken or Rick and Morty. Hypocrisy is when you claim to have standards or beliefs you yourself don’t hold yourself to, not looking at two similar things and liking one but disliking the other :D

That’s two separate shows, not what I’m talking about: inconsistency within a show. If you take issue with one situation lacking explanation but don’t with the complaint applying just as well to a parallel situation, then there’s a different reason that you take issue in the one case instead of the aforementioned reason, so you pretended to hold a position. Therefore, hypocrisy.

Okay, so after rewatching To Where And Back Again to see where people were coming from with these comparisons between this and School Raze, and I just want to say: Chrysalis and her subjects really needed to eat some Snickers if they were starving that badly.
 
Being serious, the comparisons make a lot more sense. The others were taken out off screen just like Starlight did. No one thought any more of it except for the one focused in the story who thought something unusual was going on. The changelings replaced the ones kidnapped just like how Cozy replaced Starlight as the one in charge of the school so no one would suspect. Both got taken out so they won’t interfere with the villain’s plan. How both got captured, not explained thoroughly. Finally, it was up to the newly introduced characters and other secondaries to save the day. There are other reasons too, but these were the ones that I picked up. Guess I have to go back for School Raze to see that episode’s side of the debates.

After thinking about it some more, I don’t see it as that hypocritical anymore. My bad, must’ve gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

Only Nightmare Moon had the ability to make it clean, true , a Guard who cheap shot Celestia would have been massacred by her loyalists , but the things is , in 1000 years , how can there be nobody crazy enough to try

Honestly by that logic, I think it’s more “hypocritical” to not have the inconsistency because it’s claiming to put no weight in the interpretation of the character as an individual and instead basing the opinion purely on the events of the episode itself with no regard for the characters. Everybody’s biased based on characters, so openly having an inconsistent judgment of plots based on the characters involved is a lot more honest than acting otherwise :D
 
But that’s just my opinion. I think we should just cherish that we vastly different people with such vastly different outlooks, who would never know each other even existed without this show, are here today sharing our world views with each other :D

Remember that changelings have an advantage over a rogue guard: they can take the place of whoever they need. They use infiltration and their ability to change form to achieve their goals. They can probably pull it off more easily. Thing is, we have no way to know for certain whether coups took place, just that any that could’ve have failed.

my problem is how easy they made it out to be for a Changeling to be able to capture her, it’s one things to be able to get an opportunity to take her out, it’s another to have the force to take her out , The way the show talked about it , it seems like she was just knocked out with a punch
 
if they showed a clip of an Elite Changeling putting some super rare Potion that’s basically the kryptonite of Ponies in one of Celestia’s cakes would have made it better

We have no knowledge of what specifically happened, so possibilities are plenty. What’s likely is that they used infiltration and acted in groups large enough to obtain the needed force.

I just realized Sunburst hardly get brought up anymore.
