The intent was obviously “don’t stoop down to the bully’s level”, but yeah, they kind of fucked it up.

||Yeah the CMC didn’t need to be there. Honestly Neighsay didn’t need to be there either. While it keeps the tone well throughout the story, when you get right down to it, there isn’t all that much to the main plot (ie Cozy Glow’s stuff) ||

Trouble is they had like 17 straight minutes of the CMC trying not to retaliate while Babs just constantly attacked them. It really wasn’t a case of “stooping to her level” so much as it was a case of “we NEED to retaliate because nothing else is working” :P

Didn’t the episode also portray the CMC as repeatedly refusing to even try talking to AJ about it out of pride? So you can’t really say nothing else was working. All they tried was running away.

They also had Babs threaten them if they did tell AJ, and AJ didn’t care in the end outside of frowning when she watched the other two bully them. Not telling AJ was pretty reasonable :P

Okay, I think “dumb R63 names” may have been topped with Sunburst’s R63 version being called “Sunstone.”

Honestly most rule 63 names are rubbish as people don’t bother to think about gender neutral names and not changing them, but just changing everything.

Telling AJ directly led to the end of the conflict though. Because of the information she knew that they didn’t.

It ended part of the conflict. Then the rest was solved by stooping to the bullies level. That ep’s message was broken as f. It’s like “It’s okay to be a bully if you’re already a bully” or something XD

Babs and more of Silver and Diamond were the only good things to come out of OBA.

Does the guy needs to be dead to be seen as the wronged one instead of the one in the wrong?
 
I was lucky that I eventually found people that defended me and most people actually supported me over the bullies, but jikes if I wasn’t that lucky.

One Bad Apple discussion, eh? Given it’s reception, if Hasbro/DHX did indeed retcon it, it wouldn’t surprise me at all…

Same with the “it’s wrong to fight back and/or stand up to bullies so just tell an adult” thing too. That’s seriously such an insulting thing to tell the 99% of people who got bullied, told an adult, and had nothing be done to help them. I don’t think bullies are like these irredeemable monsters or anything, but nobody put a gun to bully’s head and made them prey on other people, and the chance of getting your teeth rattled or the crap kicked out of you for it is kind of the risk you take for being a bully :P

The song in the episode was decent at least, a nice pastiche of Josie & The Pussycats and the bubblegum pop of the late 60’s/early 70’s like The Partridge Family and The Osmonds.

And chances are, they probably won’t persevere if they get their shit kicked in for bullying someone, because they’re not looking for a fight in their victims.
