If there was one fix I’d approve of, it would be Cozy Glow. Cozy was just a shit fucking character, who was only evil because “friendship is power”. How would I fix Cozy’s character? I wouldn’t introduce her as a child. The fact that a child was willing to take over the world and lock away/trap anyone who got in her way without remorse is baffling, to say the least.
Making her older would also soften the potential blow of her being imprisoned in stone in the series finale. I’m not saying Cozy didn’t deserve to be punished; she totally deserved it. However, even I admit turning her to stone, especially since she was a child, was a bit extreme, and I’m willing to bet that everyone else will totally flip out over it once they watch the US airing. Another way to fix Cozy Glow would be to dial back her over-the-top cutesy attitude A LOT. You can still have her be the villain in the season 8 finale, just don’t make it so painfully obvious from the start. And while you’re at it, don’t make everyone in the school, including the mane 6, Starlight, Spike, and students outside of the young 6, completely oblivious to Cozy’s suspicions. For example, have the other characters ask Cozy why she wants to help around at the school or take care of the artifacts so much. You just need your main heroes to be smart enough to know better, forcing Cozy to have to change her plans and find another way to outwit them. Finally, my third fix for Cozy Glow would be to give her a backstory. What happened to her parents? Why did Cozy become this evil in the first place? Was she born this way? Was she created by some other creature (Ok, even I admit this is a stretch)? Why did she even have this hatred for Twilight in the first place? Implement those three fixes and Cozy Glow becomes a much better character than the one she turned out to be: evil and shit.
