I mean, sure, Twilight was antisocial before she moved to Ponyville, and she was annoyed with being told to go make new friends (though mostly because she was focused on the legend of Nightmare Moon), but she still made an effort to be polite when she wasn’t absorbed in a book.

It doesn’t diminish the parallels, of course. Moondancer is a reflection of how Twi could’ve turned out if she never left for Ponyville. Though, ironically, it’s because Twilight left for Ponyville that Moondancer turned out the way she did.
