@Zaknel
You can assume, write, draw, and fap to whatever you like. It’s your headcanon, work it gurl 💁🏻💁🏼💁🏽💁🏾💁🏿
Again, I’m only making educated guesses based on the general consensus of the fan-artists. One trend I noticed was that it seems like in AUs where the characters are human but magic still exists, the princesses are certainly the most powerful in terms of spell ability, so it’s totally reasonable that they’ll have a spell that lets them hulk out if the situation calls for it.
@JohnnyBGoode
I don’t see why they can’t be taller because of their strength? Why do the show animators consistently make everyone except Twilight the same height?
@Zaknel
Also, as a double caveat to #3 and #4, remember that little girls are the shows main demographic. Height is also associated with masculinity, so some tomboyish girls who see themselves in rainbow dash might be worried about appearing “manly” if she’s both tough and tall.
I wouldn’t look too far into the physiological differences(canon or fanon), only because if you delve that deep into bronyism, you’ll meet certain parts of the fandom (you know who I’m talking about) that use it to justify their bigotry in the real world.
@Zaknel
I’d assume so. Though she’s normally depicted as the token fat girl because of her love for candy and pastries.
It actually reminds me of a fanfiction I read a while back where it was stated that unicorns have the highest obesity rate out of all the ponies, due to them typically using spells to lift things and teleporting instead of walking. Earth ponies had the second highest, but were also the strongest physically. Pegasus were the thinnest (because they were basically like hummingbirds when it came to ingesting and burning calories)
@Zaknel
Im no sociologist, but I’ve a couple theories:
People tend to associate height with maturity, and (personality wise) Rainbow Dash is one of the most immature members of the mane six (second only to pinkie pie)
An attempt at applying real world logic to the characters physical abilities. To me, applejack would be the “strong” one because the show depicts her doing heavy lifting via farmwork. Rainbow, on the other hand, has always been portrayed as the speedy athlete archetype (same reason she is typically drawn flat chested). This doesn’t really explain the height issue, but it does explain why she usually isn’t drawn swole (at least not at the same rate as Applejack)
Napoleon complex humor. Rainbow is (again, personality wise) the most aggressive one of the mane six. And having the toughest talker be the runt of the group is a funny mental image. Also, some men/lesbians find that type of girl to be cute.
As a caveat to #3, some insecure dudes might find an aggressive girl who is taller than them to be threatening to their masculinity, so they draw her short in an attempt at making her a tomboy but still distinctly feminine.
@JohnnyBGoode
I know. But, the rest of the world tends to think that. Everybody assumes that because I’m six feet tall, I’m strong, when that is not the case. But, now that there’s a girl that I’d be more attracted to if they drew her as tall, nobody wants to think like that. What is the deal?
I’m just curious: Why do we always depict Rainbow Dash as the smaller one in the group? She’s one of the stronger ones, shouldn’t she be the taller one?
Aerodynamics
So? I have plenty of both. But, not dexterity.
Agility =/= speed
Edited
I’m six feet tall, and run crazy fast. What would happen if I were four feet tall, then?
The common perception is:
Smaller Size = More agility
That’s what Rainbow’s fanon height boils down to, methinks.

I like tall strong women. Can I assume that the Royal Sisters are some of the tallest and strongest characters in the show?
Make it easier for the toy companies to manufacture them? Plus Twilight is the main character, so she gets special attention.
The only notably tall females we see on the show are the princesses, fleur, and sassy saddles otherwise.

Pinkie and Applejack are the biggest and strongest. I have some pictures to look through…
That is an interesting concept. Obviously, there have to be some physiological and even psychological differences between each of the races.
I’d assume so. Though she’s normally depicted as the token fat girl because of her love for candy and pastries.

Okay. That is a better explanation. thank you. But, who is the physically strongest of the mane six after Applejack? Pinkie Pie?

Tall doesn’t automatically equal strong
