Season 6 Episode Discussion [Speculation/Theories/Beware of Spoilers]

Good overall, suffered from the same problem as s5 in that the 2nd half of the season was weaker than the first but at least the finale was good (unlike The Crystalling).

It was a good season. Only a few boring episodes and only one I really didn’t like. I rate it “better than season 5”.
 
And now we wait for new episodes. Again.

“Where was that about Discord ever said? He can do near ANYTHING. Not just chaotic stuff. He’s never really failed at anything because of his magic being “limited”.
 
When was it ever shown that Discord can’t do anything with his magic that doesn’t end in chaos? He’s literally been shown to be nothing but a high tier chaos based reality warper otherwise he’s completely broken. Since when have you seen him do anything orderly?
 
Everything we’ve been shown of his powers say he’s a chaos based reality warper who’s limited by chaos itself.

When he ended the smooze’s rampage by casually reaching into it and pulling out every single item it had devoured over the course of the episode all at once with one hand and teleporting them away. All in about 2 seconds. Hell, his teleportation itself. He can go anywhere and he can take anyone with him. Had it not been for Chrysalis, he would’ve taken everyone directly to Chrysalis pretty neatly in the finale.
 
Also, when the beavers flooded Sweet Apple Acres, Discord removed all that water without even gesturing. It’s not like he was dispelling something he had created either. He may have influenced the beavers, but that was real water they caused the flood with.

It was mostly underwhelming. There were good episodes like Gift of the Maud Pie, Fault In Our Cutie Marks, Gaunlet of Fire, A Times They Are A Changeling, Dungeons and Discords and the season finale. But other episodes were either boring or forgettable. Mainly because the mane six having been relearning the same morals from past episodes, while Starlight and the CMC didn’t get much focus on their own storylines.
 
I will give this season credit for having me like Fluttershy and Trixie.

I can’t really judge the season as a whole yet because I still haven’t seen like half of it. Like, almost literally half; of the 26 episodes of this season, I’ve only seen 12.

Ok the end was kinda BS. You expect me to believe all the other changelings had enough love energy to transform. Especially the amount it took Thorax to expel to finally change? Who were they directing the energy too? Are they saying that Queen Chrysalis never gave Love to her subjects?
 
I liked the rest of the Finale. Trixie and Glimmer had great chemistry. It took two episode for them to have a convincing friendship where the Mane 6 took longer.

Well, considering her personality, Chrysalis probably never gave love to her subjects. Considering her design, i bet that she’s actually some kind of womanchild.

So now that the episode has officially aired do we have any official word on what the newlings are called?

I’m quite a fan of “Litelings”, as in, changelings stripped of pretty much everything that made them good at anything. “Weaklings” maybe?

I am going to shamelessly steal a summary of why someone else liked the finale so much because it speaks to me:
 
“Snarky Trixie, Sarcastic Glimmer, Thorax the bug from a few random pixels in the season opener, Discord being, well, Discord… Four reformed villians who, while reformed, still acted in-character - a dysfunctional group of misfits who went on to save the world despite themselves. In that last bit, it also harkened back to the pilot of Season 1: Six relative strangers pulling it together and discovering that despite their quirks they could still get shit done.”
 
Some inaccuracy in there but I get the feeling it’s trying to elicit.

Yknow, I’m pretty sure none of them asked for their horn and/or wings to be taken away. Possibly also their vocal cords and shapeshifting ability. They definitely seem like a downgrade from what they used to be.
 
Of course we’re gonna see the typical “Well, they totally do have X” or “They can do Y”, but it’s all speculations. I currently have no reason to believe they’re a step up from what actual changelings are.
 
“Oh, they don’t have to go for food anymore”, well, look at that, a race of colorful pinatas that can’t do anything. How… Equestrian of them.
 
(Credit where it’s due though, Changedlings is a nice name, they were changed. That’s it. Nothing else to it.)
