How do you search for images by aspect ratio? The description says “The image’s width divided by its height.” I’ve tried for example, aspect_ratio:1920x1080, but I get an error stating:
expected a real number, like `2.7182818’ or `-10’, starting at: x1080

Exactly what it says, you search for the decimal representation of that division. So like, 16/9 = 1.77777777778 (rounded)

You can also use the other numerical syntax thingies, like, aspect_ratio.gt:1 (wider than square) or aspect_ratio.lt:1 (taller than square) or aspect_ratio:1.77777777778~0.002 (16:9 plus or minus a little bit wrong)

What about a “Recommended Images” feature that’s based on the images you’ve favorited?

If they implement your suggestion and it works just like YouTube recommendations, where I suddenly get recommended a fruit porn documental while I’m watching an A-10 blow shit up, I’m gonna go outside, find a homeless man, pay him money, to go to your house and take a dump in your sink >:V

I actually intend to implement a feature exactly like this one. Someday, sometime. The basic gist of how it’d work, it’d recommend images based on global trends (upvotes, views, faves, tags, <all other criteria>) if you’re not logged in, and if you are logged in - based on the data the system knows about you (your views, upvotes, watched tags, etc). You will be able to opt out of using your data like this, essentially viewing recommendations as if you’re anon, and returning to basically the exact same old derpibooru as it is now.

The recommended block might be positioned at the top of the homepage, or just above the watched images, or maybe below the watched images.

We may also use a machine learning model to help suggest you stuff.

Oh and we might take inspiration from the youtube algorithm, yes.

(please note, this is a very rough idea and hasn’t been given any real thought so far)

How does Rule 3 apply to AI-generated art where the prompt is MLP-related (such as “a pegasus playing vibes”) but the output is, at best, barely pony related if not outright not pony related (a.k.a. it drew IRL horses playing marimbas)

Using and training ML seems like it would increase the server costs for little gain. However, a simple algorithm that uses tag similarity to a user’s favorite (or upvote) list to suggest images they have not yet voted on or hidden seems like it should be less computationally expensive than ML. IMO, this feature would be most useful for new users so that they can discover old images without having to go on a deep dive through some tag that catches their attention.

Well, I’d argue “pegasus” is not necessarily MLP related.

But to get to the actual question, I think if the visual bears no resemblance to MLP, while having a clearly MLP related prompt, the result would be as “obligatory pony” as putting a MLP related caption on a non-related image.
