Why are so many places insisting on payouts through proprietary debit cards?! Even a few temp agencies I went through insisted on their debit cards instead of offering direct deposit or good ol’ paper checks.

I get preferring chargeable cards to paper checks. One time plastic vs recurring paper payments means less expense on the company’s end.

Direct deposit also fixes that problem though.

They use their own because it’s tissue donation. Handling these gifts with cash will attract drug addicts that have undesirable blood/ plasma. This is also why the gifts are so small.

And it’s easier on the customer/donor. Because they can just withdraw without any additional bullshit fees.

I get not wanting drug addicts to sell their blood and plasma, but why screw over those of us who bust our asses taking care of our bodies to the best of our abilities?! We deserve more than pennies on the dollar for live-saving blood and/or plasma! And we deserve that money without any additional bullshit fees!

I’m leery on the whole system.

It feels very much like a microcosm of the problems with privatized, for profit healthcare.

“We can’t get enough of this literally life saving juice without going through third party, private companies to turn them into a marketable product” seems like it’s in the “Orphan Grinding” machine territory.

Had a power outage twice last night that woke me up, once at 2 AM and the other at 5 AM. It’s a good thing today was a day off cause if it was a work day, I would’ve went to work feeling cranky

Looks like Target’s joining Best Buy in the whole “let’s abandon physical media and force our customers to go digital-only” bullshit.

I know why these capitalist corporations want to go all in on a digital media future (hint: they can control who sees said media more easily), but why would any normal person want a future like that? One where a show, movie, or game that you buy can just be taken away from you just so that the CEOs can benefit from tax breaks?
