Twilight’s Book Harem is Featured!

Not sure if the first image has been suggested before. The second image already has a ton of upvotes and faves but it’s too good I think.

I called this.

Appropriate for Derpy Day (though yes, FlutterLuv has had one image featured in the past):

I dunno if any of my art is good enough to ever be nominated, but I figured “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” so…

Pretty sure using a base probably doesn’t count.

There is 1 base used Featured Image so it could be possible, but caution: the tag was added after it was Featured so it’s possible they didn’t know (or maybe it was mislabeled).
Ideally, Featured Images are meant for honorary spotlight recognition, and if someone else’s work is being recolored/traced, it might defeat the purpose.

Featured Images aren’t subject to any submission process. They’re just whatever the staff decides to nominate and vote on.

Sometimes a few of them will browse this discussion thread and pick something out to nominate. It’ll be entirely up to their personal judgement and taste. As I understand it, each participating staff member can only choose to nominate 1 image per voting session, so competition is extremely stiff. Some loyally stand by the same image, renominating it for weeks.

I’m not staff, but I personally wouldn’t recommend self-nomination suggestions. I’m pretty sure it was never their intention to have the discussion thread filled with submitting hopefuls. If an artist posts content worthy of a Feature often enough, I’m sure someone is likely to take notice.

But I also wouldn’t be discouraged or hinge on “good enough”. Comics, silly memes, simple pieces, and downright bizarre things can be highly entertaining and have been Featured.

I’m afraid if it were encouraged, an ocean of people might come in here flooding the discussion with their own art thinking this is their “big chance”.

People may submit their own images if they want. Or their own commissions, own OCs, things like that.

Staff no longer does that - once long ago staff nominated their own commissions, but we decided to stop doing that because it didn’t feel fair.

But, posting an image here doesn’t make it nominated. It’s just a pool that staff may look to for ideas.

So, I think it’s ok if people post their own works they are the most proud of. That seems like a good thing, doesn’t it?

(edit: I mean, I sometimes wish I could ask artists “Which piece would you like nominated?” - sometimes it feels like I’m not nominating the “right one”.)

Well, alright then.

I’d been tempted to share my own art but it didn’t feel right. Getting a Featured Image seems like such a right of passage, it’d appear shallow and pretentiously rude.

And as I said, I’d be concerned if hundreds of users found out and started spamming the thread with their art (and never thinking of anyone else) believing this is “how it works”.
