She never gave specific ages to anyone. The extent of her own concepts were that the Mane6 were immature young adults (citing ponies aging quickly, i.e. “adult” is not necessarily 18+, as why that would be) and Spike was a kid, who she wrote as having an age of around 8, but that wasn’t meant to be his official age or what she definitely thought he was.

Lauren Faust is gone, so who cares. She was dumb for giving ages to fictional cartoon animals anyway.
Spike is mature is enough as the Mane 6 are in my eyes, and that’s all that matters.

It generally seems reasonable, to me, to assume Spike is pubescent, given that his greed growth in SoME looks like nothing less than dragon puberty. It may even have been delayed which could account for the excessive growth. The Mane6, meanwhile, are probably the equivalent of late teens/early 20s at most, given their apparent age when Spike was hatched. Still, it’s a cartoon and the ages are interpretable, especially since we’re talking about nonhumans (I even headcanoned ponies actually aging like ponies but with a human lifespan due to Faust’s statements on the subject up until later seasons when they started refering to Sweetie Belle as a toddler a 5, etc.).

q: Spike’s age: teen, preteen, elementary age?
LF: Elementary. I think of him as about 8 in maturity.
I wouldn’t set it in stone that Spike’s age is 8, but saying he’s a teenager or older is definitely going against what Lauren Faust, Meghan McCarthy, and Amy Keating Rogers have said about him.

Of course you wouldn’t.
We get it. You want them all to be lesbians. You can’t stand the male to be the mare’s object of attention.
We f*cking get it.
Now run along, because nobody cares.

Rarity: Aren’t you just growing into a darling little Spikey-Wikey

Rainbow Dash: So how old does this make you, scamp?

Twilight: Uh, girls…he’s 21…
