your current filter.The one lying on the ground, completely engulfed - that doesn’t seem like the sort of thing that can be put out - at least not fast enough to save the life.
Were they actually shown in ashes or anything? Theoretically someone could have put them out once they were off-screen.
Oh, hey, what about Arimaspi? He wasn’t shown dying, but they did show his skull in the Abyss, so that’s pretty clear-cut.
