As much as I absolutely hate this, when I saw it, I couldn’t help admitting that - suck as it may - it’s probably right, specially in light of the upcoming EqG Special, Mirror Magic…

It’s better than that: Since she was involved with the story development of the last half of season 2, some Faust purists want to include those episodes as well, with some of those wanting to exclude “A Canterlot Wedding” because she didn’t plan on Cadance being an alicorn. And then there’s those who don’t want to consider anything after “The Return of Harmony” as canon, since that was the last story Lauren Faust worked on through its completion, and best of all, those who won’t even consider RoH canon, simply because it wasn’t aired as part of season 1 (even though it was made at the same time as all those episodes). I remember back in the season 2 days some people saying there were Faust purists who only considered the first three episodes as true MLP:FiM episodes, but I’ve never actually seen anyone sincerely arguing that viewpoint.

Sweet Luna, you just perfectly answered a lot of my lingering questions and confirmed some of my fears… fuck, I don’t know if I can even lower my expectations for Mirror Magic enough now…
There’s a reason for that.
Rainbow Rocks and Season 4 proved that EqG/Alicorn Twilight had at least potential or in some way most of the complaints were addressed in the critics’ eyes. For EqG, “it sucks”, “it will affect mah ponies!”, “Sunset is a crappy character!”. Rainbow Rocks addressed all those issues in some way or another. For Princess Twilight, it was “she’ll act different!”, “people will treat her differently!”, “she’ll never appear again”, or just plain “wings!”. The 4th season addressed them to some extent with her having difficulty adjusting to having them, characters still treating the same way with only some necessary exceptions like in Twilight Time, and of course the season finale showed Twilight’s own acceptance of her wings and title. That was a big factor.
Starlight has yet to receive any because the complaints about her have yet to be addressed and resolved in-universe and probably won’t, because her own status has yet to be recognized as a problem in-universe; particularly on Starlight’s side.
Basically people would be more accepting of her if there was more acknowledgement in-universe. A notable moment was when Trixie mentioned that using magic was “more fun”… indeed, the writers will continue this trend with Starlight for that exact reason. It’s more fun to them to write Starlight using magic, even if it costs her some development.
Looks like Twilight was right in-universe after all.
Particularly when it’s been in a pool.

drama never truly dies it just gets smaller
That’s my only major complaint, myself. Some of them look fine but others look like someone spilled pea soup into a gasoline puddle. I prefer the old look but I understand the symbolism of the change.
you say before starlight appeared in the show? oh yeah, good times…
There was still Twicorn hate going on with season 5, and the EQG hate was still going for some time after Rainbow Rocks.

Except it’s been well over a year, and Starlight STILL gets a lot of hate. The Twilicorn hate died down after Season 4, and the EQG drama ceased after Rainbow Rocks was released.
I love their gaudy colors; they remind me of RL beetles, and besides, it’s nice to have something in the show that isn’t muted and pastel. IMHO, of course.

Yeah, we’re pretty much repeating the drama of the season 3 days, except replace “alicorn Twilight” and “Equestria Girls” with “Starlight Glimmer”. Just as it was with those two topics four years ago, giving anything involving Starlight Glimmer a chance before forming an opinion on it is proof to some people that one is a Hasdrone eagerly cheering on the destruction of the show.
Sorry you’re having a bad day, by the way. Try looking up some classic Looney Tunes on Dailymotion or something.

It has to do with Mirror Magic post on EQD It’s because i replied to a Starlight criticizer. And not like he was wrong about his criticism to although i did sort of disagreed to a small extent. And then a few minutes later i commented, “I’ll see how this episode goes before i give my full opinion” And the next thing you know this other guy replies to me, telling me “You come off as a “Starlight Fanboy” and a Starlight Apologist” Which, i HATE the term fanboy BTW. So then i replied to him that i don’t appreciate assuming things about me, and even though i’m remaining optimistic about it, i do have some minor issues.
Then this guy starts to comment on my Disqus description and my profile pic. So i guess having a Glimmer profile pic is the red flag of “Fanboyism” to this guy. Stupid.
I don’t know what the hell his problem is with me, or what i did to make him say that. And luckily it didn’t get too heated. I was already having a shitty day as it is. I wasn’t going to stoop to his level. I was trying so hard not to go off on him.

I know I have answered to you about that and just said the colors needed work.
I often ask if anyone else likes their designs, and I always get some variation on “their colors hurt my eyes”.
Had a differing opinion, I’m guessing.
Trying to ruin the fun for everyone else. Like EyeGuy.

I’m pretty sure you’re not looking for counterexamples. I, for one, like the “reformed” changelings, and as much as I’d like for Celestia to get a solo focus episode, it doesn’t affect my enjoyment of the series.
