sure she was powerful, but the goddess didn’t go and wipe out red eye, the raiders, steel rangers, enclave and motherfrakin spike.
 
didn’t say red eye would ally with anyone. just that they’d all attack at once, once they found someone had enough power to defeat the goddess. that was something I found oddly lacking in the original story.
 
and raiders might be bloodthirsty morons, but they’ve also been going toe to toe with feral ghouls for centuries without getting wiped out. they at least know to burn the bodies, and don’t have any morals to care about it, so unlimited undead… not likely. maybe after she defeats everything on earth then she can zerg rush them, but until then she’s going to be losing zombies left and right to raiders taking pot shots at them.
 
and don’t tell someone they overanalyze things, then try to analyze things more yourself.

You overanalyze things too much and you forgot she also controls the Alicorns. Goddess fall easily as she didn’t expect to be tricked. Raiders wouldn’t stand a chance if they run out of bullets against an opponent that has unlimited numbers of undead and they have the strategic capacity of a bloodlust peanut. Red Eye would never ally himself with anyone and the Enclave is too racist to ever join forces so they get picked off as well. Seriously, you underestimate the power of the Black Book.

I’ve done some AU, but really the issue seems to be about what could be AU and what is just filling in the “here there be dragons, also maybe end of the world”.  
In essence, and backed by physics, the original story takes place in a radius of 60 miles using Tenpony and the curvature of an earth like planet to see the rad booms, and from the rad booms the other locations.  
Which is a rather big issue in making other fics as you are now talking about how all of the “wasteland” fits into the DC metro area.  
So you have a pretty big question on how large Equstria was, or if its just an extremely limited strategic exchange focussed on decapitation and the rest of the country is actually just fine.  
One musing is that due to taint and the balefire, along with poisoned ground, the rest of the planet is quite well back on civilization, its just that nobody bothered to fix the old capital.  
Sort of like the Twilight Zone episode where the guy had the bunker and following an exchange, all the radiation got dumped under a dome just above his door as a sign of peace.

that’s true, you’d think with 5000 spin off stories some of them would be AU, but all of them seem to just use the setting (at least the last time i browsed those stories)
