Besides no Hitler, would it have been better off if the Central Powers won World War 1?

Seeing how the first world war turned out we should be glad that we didn’t act. If we had joined the war then i’m pretty sure we would’t have had Folkhemmet or have become the world leader in industry (With the 4th largest air force at one point. I know it was after the second world war but Sweden could have been devastated if we joined Germany during the first one.)

Sweden was actually invited to join the Central Powers during the war and we’d be rewarded with reclaiming Finland and Estonia from the russians if we accepted, resurrecting the Swedish Empire, sadly we did not.

That might be true, but the amount of people now think they know everything about history.

I know a lot and I don’t even call myself an amateur historian.

OH-HO-HO sonny, I doubt it will, it was a fucking gruesome war. They wouldn’t be able to rated decently by the ESRB if they did.

Call of Duty: World at War (Only CoD I absolutely love) was the first game that showed me the true brutality of World War 2, especially on the Eastern front. And the bravery and sacrifice both Russians and Americans spent in order to defeat their greatest enemies at the time.

See it like i do, It’s a jumping off point. A lot of people will be exposed to the era who would’t have otherwise and quite a few of them will surely look into the topic now that it has peaked their interest. I’ve learned so much about Renaissance Italy from Assassin’s Creed II for example and much more from other games in other historical settings. Schools around the world are already struggling with keeping students engaged with “some boring history.” So the least we can do is give them a slice of history through a game in an approachable and engaging way.

I learned a tremendous amount about history thanks to games. In later years what was true was cemented and gameplay stuff was ironed out.

Mostly thanks to Battlefield 1942, and Destroyer Command (a sim).
