Description

It was hard to catch, but when Sunburst tried to explain to Twilight what to do, Pinkie got it first. She simply gets ignored, and gets sad for a second. Originally this is only a few frames, so I edited it to make it more clear.

I think the possibility that she wasn’t even on the same page as everyone else and was just in her own little world should also be thrown on the table.
 
Not denying that she’s smart, but it’s fitting that she would have a hard time collecting all those rampant thoughts at the way her mind likely works.

I believe she was waving to her father coming all close to her rather than to Pinkie Pie, it can go either way but giving she’s a recently born I doubt she caught pinkie pies ignored hoof up

It’s pretty much canon that Pinkie Pie’s mind works at lightning speed, much faster than her ability to communicate her thoughts. So her catching on to Sunburst’s explanation but being unable to let other ponies know is totally in character for her.

Seems pretty legit to me. Remember in “Daring Don’t,” besides RD and Twi, she was the only one to catch everything. Also in “Bats,” iirc, I think Pinkie understood Twi’s process for getting the bats to stop craving apple, but nopony else did.
 
Or maybe I’m confusing it with the one time that Twi, in Rainbow Rocks, built the portal to be able to go to human-world any time and Pinkie was the only one who understood it.

I don’t think so. If you take a close look at the episode, Pinkie is clearly listening to Sunburst. Her expression then changes into a contemplative one when Sunburst is trying to get the words “the crystalling” out of Twilight. Just a fraction before twilight gets it and says the words, she raises her hoof trying to tell the others something. I’m pretty sure the animators (or whoever wrote that visual gag in there) intended it to be like I interpreted it.
